Aslan Class Newsletter

This week
We have been really impressed with how
wonderfully the children have settled back into
their school routine.
Each week we will announce the child who stood
out as a ‘fine diner’ and the child who made it
onto the ‘proud cloud’. As well as being
announced each week, the names are also
displayed on the board outside our classroom to
celebrate their achievements.
Our fine diner is Elsie Malam for using such
beautiful manners in the dining room.
Our proud cloud is Danny Felgueiras for starting
Year 2 with a mature and hard-working attitude
to all his learning.
Home Learning
The Home Learning for every week this half term
is stuck in the front of the children’s Home
Learning books. Please look at it each week for
the task/activity. If you need to send a video or
picture as part of your home learning, please
forward to office@
We are really looking forward to seeing what the
children produce!
Have a great weekend 

Learning this week
This week the children were introduced to their
new topic for the term ‘The Great Fire of London’.
We discussed what the children already knew and
what they would like to find out during the term
ahead. Their ideas have ensured that it will be a
fascinating and enjoyable topic!
During English this week, we explored the
character Aslan from the Lion, the Witch and the
Wardrobe. We focused on adjectives and
expanded noun phrases to create a detailed
character description.
In Maths, we have been learning about place value
(knowing what each digit stands for) to partition
numbers (splitting into HTU).
Growth Mindset
Ask your children about Gruffalo and Mouse. Who
do they want to be like?
Changing Reading books
Please help your child to remember that they
must bring their reading book to school every
day. If they need to change their book, the
books are now located in the corridor where
they come in. As part of the children’s growing
independence, we are encouraging the children
to change their books by themselves by
choosing from the correct coloured box.
PE
PE lessons for Aslan class are timetabled for
Tuesday and Fridays. Please ensure that your
child brings their PE kit into school as children
will now be changing in school time. Children
must come to school wearing their uniform
each day.
Link Books
Please communicate day-to-day comments via
the link book. If you would like to discuss
something in depth, please arrange an
appointment.
Things to remember
Home Learning to be returned by Wednesday
each week please.
Miss Curtis will teach the class each Tuesday
morning.
