the children of Staff Sergeant Andrew and Julia Montgomery
North Myrtle Beach, SC – On June 25 at North Myrtle Beach City Hall, Major Ed Pulido
of the Folds of Honor Foundation presented college scholarships to Anson, Asher, and Alexis
Montgomery, children of Staff Sergeant Andrew and Julia Montgomery. The Folds of Honor
Foundation (www.foldsofhonor.org)

children of fallen or disabled local
service men and women.
Staff Sergeant Andrew Montgomery
was born in Elmira, New York. He
joined the United States Army at the age
of 17 and served in the 82nd Airborne
Division. After the completion of his
second deployment to Iraq where he was
wounded on two different occasions
when his vehicles were hit by roadside
explosives, he moved to Combat
Company 1-32 Infantry 3rd BCT 10th
Mountain Division. He served in
Afghanistan as a Squad Leader and was
wounded a third time when, while on
patrol, he stepped on a land mine.

wounded and disabled veterans learn the
game of golf as a form of therapy. He has had to overcome many obstacles as a result of his
injuries. Like so many others like him, he has found that golf helps him cope with the effects of
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Andrew was invited to join President George W. Bush at his two day, 36 hole Warrior Open in
the Dallas area. Andrew and his wife recently completed the purchase of a house in Myrtle Beach
where they will live with their three children. Andrew and Julia are both working on earning their
bachelor degrees. They are highly motivated and are looking forward to the next phase of their
lives.
Three other families (shown below) whose children have also received Folds of Honor
Foundation scholarships joined the Montgomery family for the event.
