EXCLUSIVE CURIOSITIES, COLLECTIBLES AND FASHION PIECES Magnificent Obsessions: The Artist as Collector is the first major exhibition in the UK to present the fascinating personal collections of post-war and contemporary artists, including Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Peter Blake, Pae White, Edmund de Waal and many others. Their collections range from mass-produced memorabilia and popular collectibles to one-of-a-kind curiosities, rare artefacts, and natural history specimens. The Barbican shop complements the exhibition with a range of exclusive products both inspired by the artists’ collections and designed to inspire new collectors. Illustrator Rose Blake, daughter of featured artist Peter Blake, creates a specially commissioned print inspired by her father’s collection. Other products range from exquisitely macabre chocolate skulls by Conjurer’s Kitchen to enchanting one-off taxidermy sculptures by Katie Brooks and exclusive ceramic wall hangings from Maison Monade. An exclusive silk scarf by Susie Green and Tatty Devine jewellery in exclusive colours are also available. A range of novelties, boxes, bell jars and tags by international designers are on offer for those whose collections are already rapidly burgeoning, as are a selection of rare books chronicling famous collectors’ hoards. The shop is open daily from 11am to 6pm, with late openings until 9pm on Thursdays and Fridays. A selection of items is also available online. COLLECTIBLES ROSE BLAKE £50 EXCLUSIVE Rose Blake’s simple, charming and beautifully composed illustrations have been commissioned by The New York Times, Google and The Sunday Times amongst many others. She brings her bold and playful style to a specially commissioned print, inspired by her father Peter Blake’s elephant collection, titled Riding into the past, with my dad, on the back of his toy elephant collection. Each screen print is signed, numbered and strictly limited to 100 editions. Available exclusively from the Magnificent Obsessions shop for the duration of the exhibition. KATIE BROOKS £550 (final prices tbc) EXCLUSIVE Katie Brookes sculptures’ meld the natural and manmade by incorporating taxidermy alongside drawing, sculpture and painting in the pursuit to unite all disciplines. The Barbican shop is the first retail outlet to stock her taxidermy still-life sculptures, which are available exclusively from the Barbican for the duration of the exhibition. Katie Brooks is a member of the Guild of Taxidermy and each unique piece is created from ethically sourced specimens. MAISON MONADE £250 EXCLUSIVE Combining tribal art, sacred geometry and magic worlds, Masion Monade fuses esoteric influences with elegance and simplicity. Brooklyn based ceramist Laurence Jaccottet’s beautiful ceramics play with the contrast of raw clay and glazes and can be hung in either way up, creating two different faces. This design was created especially for the Barbican and is available in this exclusive colour from the Barbican shop. CONJURER’S KITCHEN £14 EXCLUSIVE Conjurors Kitchen craft delicate confections along distinctly macabre lines. Their edible white chocolate parrot skulls are available exclusively from the Magnificent Obsessions shop for the duration of the exhibition. FASHION AND JEWELLERY SUSIE GREEN £85 EXCLUSIVE Susie Green draws on the dreamlike, decadent worlds of Jean Cocteau, Sonia Delaunay and Elsa Schiaparelli, creating scarves that celebrate a meeting of art and fashion. Each design is painted with gouache on paper in her Newcastle studio, prior to being digitally printed and finished in the UK onto lightweight 100% Silk Crepe de Chine.
