JK Page 1 of 6 7 2015 Nationals Planning TCYC Sunday 11th to Friday 16th January 2015. 7.1 General Entries to date – 12 WA, 7 NT, 4 Vic, 1 unknown (Van Den? 1133) = 24 total. Early bird entries closing 12 November – send out reminder to all States. NOR uploaded to website. Sailing Instructions – awaiting some new wording from ISAF, then will be sent to John Standley for final review. Bron to fix formatting etc & upload to website once finalised. Support boat briefing notes drafted & circulated for comment (based on MOFSC’s). Bron to finalise T-shirt design and costs. 7.2 7.3 Protest Committee John Standley (chairman), Alan Campbell confirmed. Trevor Taylor away (Sydney to Hobart). Ask John Percy? CB/BC CB/BC All BC CB Regatta Administration Chris and Bron have met with Robin and Sue Olsen. Sue will oversea regatta office & prepare race management documentation for BC MAWA to photocopy, Bron to assist Sue with administration. Ask Fiona and Lorelle also. Results – Sue will provide guidance but MAWA to be responsible for this, using Sailwave or Finish Line – Sue is conversant with either. Bron to do results with Fiona, Lorelle and/or Lisa assisting. 7.4 Safety Management Plan Safety Management Plan – being drafted using plan used at Blairgowrie Nationals as CB a base. Rescue boat allocation to be included as an appendix. Robin Olsen to proof. Briefing to be held with all WA support volunteers prior to Nationals to ensure Note familiar with plan. 7.5 Containers NT container arriving before Xmas. Will be placed at hardstand. NT also bringing a rib for their use during regatta. VIC container arriving after New Year. Potentially place in Val St carpark (issues re parking?). Bringing ribs and 10 Minnows. 7.6 Boat Allocation Chris has re-drafted support boat roster and sent out, still subject to change. Mark boats – 3 in total. John Hayden will assist with mark laying (start pin). 2 x ISAF ribs to be loaned - pick up from Fremantle and Hillarys on 10th – not to be used for mark laying. Open fleet – 12 support boats in total – plenty to bring sailors in if required. Novice fleet – 8 x ribs including 3-4 coach boats & 4 support boats; Mal’s tinnie also available if required. Support boats require 2 POB, preference will be given to WA volunteers then NT/VIC volunteers. Support boat briefing required. Open Fleet start boat – Andrea Christine. 7.7 Refuelling of Boats Trevor has 44G drum & drum pump – will loan for event. Load on back of blue ute and drive to jetty for refuelling each day. Rosco will man this with Jon Clark and/or John Kursar assisting. Skippers to bring boats to jetty for refuelling. 7.8 Novice Fleet RO Alan Campbell. Mal to find 4 C fleet parents to assist – possibly Lorelle Kursar & Leanne Clark. Heidi will be go-to person WA Novice sailors. Senior WA Juniors as coaches and support. ISAF Introductory Rules of Racing will be used in lieu of ISAF Rules of Racing, as per John Standley’s advice. Introductory Rules Allows “protests” which Alan Campbell will hear. 2 point penalty can be applied, or higher penalty for more serious incidents if deemed appropriate. 7.9 Open Fleet: RO Robin Olsen. Peter O’Connor assisting. Lisa Williams, Gill Joyner, Maxine McLeod, Adrian Holthouse (1 or 2 days). 7.10 Equipment Safety kits for boats – TCYC has available for TCYC boats. Loan boats to bring their own. Support boat packs – RMP, safety tape, notes etc. John Brabazon will print and make up packs. 5 extra for NT/VIC boats. Sign on board from States to be re-used, painted blue. Eskies required 1 per boat for mark/rescue boats and additional around sign on & registration desk. Committee members to supply. Bottled water – Lorna will arrange from IGA. Note John Brabazon LB 7.11 First Aid Declan cannot take leave from work, but will supply 1st Aid box and oxygen kit for duration of regatta. Chris has contacted Eleanor Lee (TCYC First Aid provider), but no response as yet. CB Other potentials include Carol Dennison, Marlene McLaughlin? Bron to email all BC TCYC Juniors and club to see if any nurses or doctors available to assist on any or all days. 7.12 Surf Life Saving WA Chris to register event with Surf Life Saving WA to ensure we have helicopter CB coverage for duration. 7.13 Prizes John Brabazon supplying stickers for 1st to 3rd placed Minnows and 1st Female in John Open, Junior & Novice Fleets. Brabazon Prizes – Boating Hardware, $1,300 prizes from Ronstan. Sail donated by Extreme Sails. 2 x foil bags donated by Hooper (use as Open & Novice mid-fleet awards). Duncan has been asked to take panorama shot on beach with Minnows and sailors. Duncan will make up order forms to include in registration bags. Agreed set up & take photo 1300 Sunday prior to Invitation Race. Kwinana Industries Council have requested photo of CEO with 2-3 kids wearing KIC LB caps. Will organise on a training day prior to Nationals. 7.17 Invitation Race – Sponsors Event Aboard Bella. Alcoa, Hogsbreath, Rays Outdoor World, Clark Rubber, others? Antipasto Platters for Woolworks, Drinks Eskie. Hogster coming along to assist with presentations. 7.18 LB Functions, Lunches etc Lorna has met with Emily and Kevin Sneddon. Emily was not aware that event would be at club all week, despite a number of emails on this. Discussed and agreed: 0900 – club will be staffed to serve tea and coffee. 1130 – 1330 – galley will be open, run by one person (will this be enough??), Emily LB offered hot chips, nuggets. However Chris has spoken to club about having quick healthy meals - ready made rolls and/or make your own sandwich/rolls with salad bar. Also hot pasta dishes – a selection of sauces. Lorna to meet with Emily again on this. 1630 – bar is open every day in summer. Noted racing should be finished around 1600, Minnow Musters around 1700. 7.19 Welcome BBQ 1800 Start 1830 serve food A $25, C $15 Club are offering burgers, sausages, ice cream. Consensus is that this is not enough, request also kebabs, soy chicken wings or LB similar. Kerry will ask Mike if he may be willing to assist with catering for welcome night. Wedding function has been booked upstairs, TCYC Members night has been shifted to Saturday. Decorations – purchase from Party Plus. Set-up – ask Marilyn, Lorelle, Geraldine, Carolyn, others? Buffet will be set up in Junior room – TCYC will do. Disco in area in front of galley – MAWA to organise. Trestle tables outside for children. Agreed no formal seating plan for adults. Alcoa has been asked to assist with presentations (main sponsor). DJ – Lorna and Lorelle will organise. LB/LK Glow sticks for kids – Lorna / Lorelle. LB/LK 7.21 Measurment Safety Checklist – Bron tabled draft list, minor amendments required. Bron to finalise and email to Kerry and Chris. Chris to forward copy to Vic and NT. New scales have been purchased – accurate to within 10g. Kerry to make up battens for easy measurement of sails etc. Kerry will arrange a day to weigh & measure WA boats. Other States early bird measurement on Saturday 10th, remainder on Sunday 11th Jan. BC CB KB KB 10 Sail Fremantle 25th & 26th October at FSC. Good regatta, all kids enjoyed despite weather challenges. Very close racing throughout. RO was intending to have Gold and Silver fleets sailing same course until Chris intervened. 11 11.1 Boating DBYC Currently have 10 Minnow sailors. Sail training held yesterday. 7 Minnows out, 3 others didn’t come to training. Newer sailors unlikely to come to Nationals, 2 experienced sailors confirmed. 11.2 MYC Chris reported on Nick H’s behalf: 3 to 4 Minnows sailing at present. Only Dylan H is at Nationals level. Nick H’s presence is motivating members at club. Page 5 of 6 11.3 SSC Chris reported on Nick R’s behalf: Club is still not going so well as demographics of area have changed. 13 people attended AGM. 3 to 4 Minnow sailors at present. 11.4 TCYC Not discussed. 12 General Business 12.1 2015 Minnow Committee Succession planning required to fill positions being vacated. ALL 12.2 TCYC Swim Platform/Pontoon Alan Campbell has requested email from MAWA to support need to move the swim CB platform to a safer distance from sail training area. Also to request from Flying Ant rep. To be included in submission to Council. 12.3 Cockburn Sound Regatta Minnows have been invited on dingy course. If 5 boats or more, we will have our CB / LW own class. Starts Friday 26th Dec (Boxing Day) to Wednesday 31st Dec. Can arrange for racing on all or some of days. Good training opportunity for Nationals. Chris to ask Lisa Williams to email information to all TCYC Juniors to get a consensus on this.
