Driving Directions
to the TWI Farmhouse at the Sue and Wes Dixon Waterfowl Refuge at Hennepin & Hopper Lakes
From Chicago (Approximately 125 miles from O'Hare)
I‐55 south to I‐80 west (exit #250B).
I‐80 west for 47.8 miles to I‐39 south (exit #79A).
I‐39 south 7.6 miles to Route 71 (exit #51 ‐ “Oglesby/Hennepin”); turn right.
IL‐71 west for 12.7 miles to Route 26 (use off‐ramp marked to “Hennepin”); at bottom of
ramp, turn left.
IL‐26 south for approximately 1.4 miles.
Just south of the Coffee Creek bridge, turn right (west) onto the gravel drive and park near
the Refuge bunkhouse.
From Peoria (Approximately 45 miles from Peoria)
From the east side of the river: Head north on IL‐26 and continue to follow signs for IL‐26
for approximately 40 miles to just before the town of Hennepin.
From the west side of the river: Head north on IL‐29 for 23 miles to IL‐17/Ferry St. at the
town of Sparland. Turn right on IL‐17 and continue east 1.6 miles to IL‐26. Turn left on IL‐26
and continue north approximately 17 miles to just before the town of Hennepin.
Just before crossing the Coffee Creek bridge, turn left (west) onto the gravel drive and park
near the Refuge bunkhouse.
