The teenagers handed out the pink shirts at school as a symbol of protest and support. Canada now has an anti-bullying Pink Shirt Day every year. We will be wearing new pink shirts this year designed by the winners of our Pink Shirt Campaign. Congratulations to Imani and Zoe for creating powerful messages that we will be proud to wear. Page 2 On Time Every Day A “Mind: Rehearsal” Arriving at school on time allows your child to settle in and take full advantage of every learning activity. Let him/her take the lead on this important responsibility by teaching him/her to set an alarm. Have your youngster ‘practice” challenging situations in his/her mind to boost their confidence. Before a basketball game, for example, he/she could picture themselves scoring baskets. Before a big test, he/she might imagine staying calm and answering questions to the best of their ability. Tip: Suggest that they place the clock across the room so that they have to get out of bed to switch it off. www.rfeonline.com KISS “N RIDE and PARKING LOT SAFETY Traffic flow at Cadarackque continues to create a huge safety concern for our students and staff. Students who live within the school boundaries should be walking to school. Students in the French Immersion program should be travelling by buses which will load and drop in the front parking lot. In the event that parents must drive students to school, please observe and respect the following procedures: 1. No cars should be parking or stopping in the driveways and parking lots. The front parking is to be used for the buses only. 2. When using the Kiss “N Ride, parents are to use the right lane to stop and drop kids off. Parents should not park and get out of their cars. 3. If you want to get out of your car, park in the parking lot available or on the street. 4. The left lane is for cars to pull out and keeping traffic moving through and should be kept open to ease flow at all times. No cars should park in the left lane. 5. Students should be arriving between 7:45 and 7:55 so they are ready to enter the building at their division doors promptly at 8:00am. 6. Convenience should not outweigh our need to follow proper procedures and maintain safety for everyone. Please help us to keep all of our children safe every day. It has evolved over time. In December 1995, the Parliament of Canada officially recognized February as Black History Month. The significant achievements and contributions in the areas of medicine, human rights, art, culture, politics, and public service made by people of African and Caribbean descent throughout history as well as their struggles to overcome colonialism and racism, are officially recognized and celebrated. “We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers.” Martin Luther King
