JOB TITLE: Accountant / Accounting Clerk MAJOR FUNCTION AND PURPOSE Accountant/Accounting Clerk is responsible for Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and payroll as well as various other clerical functions. This is a full-time position with normal working hours from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Criteria A: $16.25 to $21.78/hour (must have a 4 year accounting degree) Criteria B: $14.21 - $19.01/hour (must have 2 year accounting education and a minimum of 2 years of experience) Vacation and Sick Leave. Medical, Vision, Dental. Retirement. SUPERVISION RECEIVED This position reports to the Finance Director. Person in this position does not supervise anybody. DUTIES INCLUDE: 1. Collect employee’s time sheets to be processed for payroll. Verify the time, input data into the payroll system and prepares semi-monthly payroll checks. Maintain accurate payroll records and files. 2. Calculate distributions and deduct monthly payroll withholdings, medical insurance. Prepare and submit payment for payroll tax, retirement, and other withholdings, file quarterly reports. 3. Aid in maintaining employee personnel files. 4. Be a liaison between the company’s medical insurance plan broker and employees. 5. Match Purchase Orders (PO) and verify invoices, code and input into system, check-run and ACH checks 6. Prepare invoices and cover sheets for Board review. File payment records and check backup. 7. Enter rent received (Accounts Receivable) into the system and verify that amounts received agree with deposit slip created by site managers. Apply late charges, utility charges, Credit memo and Debit memo. 8. Prepare bank deposits for all money received and take deposits to the bank. 9. Maintain the AR overdue accounts, forward the accounts to collections and follows-up 10. Reconcile rent receipt ledgers for all complexes and assist with monthly project reports. Reconcile payables sub-ledger to General Ledger (GL) accounts. 12. Prepare for other journal entries as appropriate. Assist with month-end and year-end close. 13. Assist with audit process. 14. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATES Degree in Finance/Accounting major preferred, or 2 year degree in business and/or accounting with a strong accounting training and experience combination.
