Year 5 Spelling Homework.
Due in: Tuesday 5th March
Over the next few weeks we will be learning about antonyms: A word having a meaning opposite to that of
another word. Today we looked at antonyms which use the prefix ir-, and we will soon be looking at those
which use the prefix il-. For your homework this week you need to put the antonyms below into a
sentence, making sure that you spell the word correctly! The sentence must include an adjective and a
subordinate clause.
1. Irregular
E.g. If anyone approached, the mischievous girl planned to hide the delicious
chocolate cake because she knew they would find it irresistible.
2. Irrational

Tip: It may help to look up the word in the dictionary to
check you are able to use it correctly in a sentence.
