COMIX AND GRAPHIC NOVELS The term “comix” is, according to one Fourth Form Carthusian, an attempt by publishers to make comic books “trendy” again. He wasn’t far from the truth. Comix, which include graphic novels, are pretty much what we all think of as comic books, except they are (generally) longer and don’t just deal with super heroes or comedic characters. The terms “comix” and “graphic novels” have lifted the medium of the comic out of the cultural slough of obsessed fanboys and into the brainspace of academia and pop culture. COMIX CAN BE A VESSEL FOR ANY AND ALL SUBJECTS. TAKE A LOOK: PAUL ASTER, CITY OF GLASS R.
