COMIX AND GRAPHIC NOVELS
The term “comix” is, according to one Fourth Form
Carthusian, an attempt by publishers to make comic books
“trendy” again. He wasn’t far from the truth. Comix, which
include graphic novels, are pretty much what we all think of
as comic books, except they are (generally) longer and don’t
just deal with super heroes or comedic characters. The terms
“comix” and “graphic novels” have lifted the medium of the
comic out of the cultural slough of obsessed fanboys and into
the brainspace of academia and pop culture.
