Your NEW Local Support Team
Supporting Children and Families in Need
Local Support Teams are part of the County Council’s Families First service
Families First Local Support Teams work with children, young people and families where they have
complex needs that usually require the co-ordinated engagement of a number of agencies. We work on
a casework basis, supporting the whole family, delivering evidence-based interventions and promoting
effective co-ordination between agencies and a clear and common focus on improving outcomes.
We work closely with midwives, health visitors, child-minders and nurseries, and services in Children’s
Centres to ensure that families with under 4s have the best possible support as and when they most
need it. Working with the whole family, our practitioners have knowledge and expertise in child
development and behaviour, as well as in services for parents and for other, older children.
