7. Oh! English
English opens the windows of the wide world to every one of us. It is the
language of computer technology. It is the most important and widely used
language in international forum. It is a common link in the world.
Wish to learn English?
The main cause of bewilderment is the unusual usage of certain words. A pot is
‘broken’ and so is ‘silence’. Why, even a man ‘breaks’ under pressure. Isn’t that
strange?
Idiomatic English might appear to the idiotic to a person who is not familiar with
such usage. There was this incident once when the detective, after studying his case
remarked to his assistant, “I smell something fishy.” the assistant immediately
sniffed and said; “Sorry sir, but I don’t get any smell.”
Where number in English is concerned, a single rule does not apply to all similar
words. The plural of man is ‘men’ but the plural of fan is not ‘fen’. The plural of
‘foot’ is ‘feet’ and ‘tooth’ is ‘teeth’ but the plural of ‘root’ is not ‘reet’.
‘Doubt’ ‘malign’ ‘hour’ ‘palm’ what have all the consonants ‘l’ ‘g’ ‘h’ and ‘l’ got to
do in these words when they are not pronounced at all? Why not emit them, one
would ask. But then, that’s English.
A lot of confusion and difficulty arise from the euphemistic style of writing. Here
are a few lines from a famous writer, “While I was perambulating in the nocturnal
house of the preceding night, I espied a stranger with whom I interrogated a
passage, and at his taciturnity, I with a rotatory motion of my cudgel, made his
perpendicularity into horizontality. This is a classical example of bombastic
language! What the writer meant to say was very simple; “While I was walking last
night, I met a stranger to whom I asked something and at his reluctance to speak,
I was so annoyed that I beat him and made him fall down.
Well, with all its shortcomings, English is very interesting and the most popular of
all the languages in the world. However, one should keep in mind that for any
language to be effective, it should be simple and flowing. It should be simple but
impressive.

‘Well, good luck to you, you have made your own choice! Now tell me this…
‘What comes first, Day or Night?’
The boy was jolted into reality as his admission depended on his answer, but he

KSOS
School is Pillar of child’s whole life but at the same time a high school shapes
his/her rest of life. It has been in vogue that high schools are only meant for
teaching books and help student gain good marks but at Krishna School of Science
students are not only taught what there is in textbooks but also they taught the
values one needs to sustain in this life.
At Krishna School of Science everyday is a joyride in which students learn a
lot but are not supposed to mug up anything. It is said that it is tough to teach the
teenagers but at KSOS teachers do a very marvelous job. Students learn everything
with their least effort due to the efforts of their teachers.
Moreover, its not always about studies, students are allowed to enjoy their
life without any ado for which school organizes functions like sports day, annual
day, picnic etc.
The peculiarity of KSOS is that they form a triangular system consisting of
teachers, students and their parents. Parents are always being informed about
their child’s progress.
In KSOS, students are educated in real sense and not provided only with the
bookish knowledge.
“Life is heaven, so is Education
Krishna School of Science will always get lots of appreciation”
We are proud to be students of KSOS.
