Welcome back to Term 4. This term promises to be both busy and full of fun.
The term planner is filling up fast! With the weather warming up be sure to
remember to pack drink bottles and apply sunscreen before school.
On Saturday 17th October the teaching staff attended a Professional Learning
day at Guildford Grammar School. Teachers were able to select four
professional learning sessions through the day from the wide selection on
offer.
I had the opportunity to explore the Early Childhood Centre at the school with
the head of the Prep School Mr Clark Wight. He spoke about the importance
of letting children be little and giving them the opportunity to learn through
play. All too often in daily life as both parents and educators we tend to rush
children through their day to be places and finish tasks. Mr Wight highlighted
the importance of allowing children the time and space, while giving them the
correct tools to immerse themselves in learning experiences and solve
problems by themselves. As a parent, this was a timely reminder coming into
the final busy months of the year.
Feedback from the staff was that it was a valuable learning experience
networking with colleagues and learning together.
Beach Clean Up
On Thursday, 13th October all CPS students were involved in the beach clean up. We were very
proud of the students’ efforts working with the rangers to help make the beach a better, cleaner place
for marine life and humans too. The students were very enthusiastic.

VacSwim 2017
With swimming pools and beaches an integral part of our lifestyle in Cervantes, ensuring your children can
swim competently and safely is a must for all families. VacSwim classes are for all children of all levels
from beginner through to advanced survival, rescue and resuscitation. VacSwim lessons cost just $1 a
day. Enrol online now at www:det.wa.edu.au/swimming.
We are very fortunate to have this program running in Cervantes, but it does rely on having good
attendance. To ensure that we do not lose this life saving program, enrol now. Enrolments close on 28th
November. At this stage, there are two programs running:
Program 1: 3 January to 13 January.
9 days (40mins/day)
Program 2: 16 January to 25 January
8 days (45mins/day)
