Jane Austen Society of WA (JASWA) Email: [email protected] Catherine Gordon and Celena Chapelhow started the new and reenergised Jane Austen Society of WA in 2016. New topics and a more structured schedule will enable the group to look in more detail at many different elements when studying and discussing Jane Austen. 2016 culminated in a wonderful High Tea celebration of Jane Austen’s birthday at the UWA Club. At our first session this year we have looked at letters and had lessons on writing ‘Regency Style’ using quills and ink. Both Catherine and Celena are devoted to Persuasion and this will be examined in more detail within the themes, throughout 2017. A special event is being planned to celebrate and acknowledge the bicentenary of Jane Austen’s death in July. In October, Tim Bullamore editor and publisher of Jane Austen’s Regency World magazine will be visiting WA and will present to our group. We thank JASA for their support in enabling this event to take place.
