Soothe, firm, cool and hydrate the face
and neck with this all-botanical mask. The
Ayurvedic plant, Indian senna, is used for
its ability to improve water absorption. It is

Another new trend to hit the skin
care market is the use of a unique
complex of ingredients that are more
effective on a cellular level to repair
the skin. Damage to DNA creates
premature aging and susceptibility to
skin cancer. In order to provide proper

able to penetrate the damaged areas
to protect against oxidation within
the nucleus of the cell. Water (and)
Phoenix dactylifera (date) extract (and)

Beta Endorphin stimulating
skin and body care.

One of the new trends in skincare is the
use of specific botanical extracts that
promote beta endorphin production in the
skin. Scientists have long associated beta
endorphins as mood-elevating compounds
but only recently has this phenomenon
been examined in relation to the skin
system. Physical and emotional stimuli
induce the release of neurotransmitters
which are substances that convey
information between skin and brain. Such
interactions play a role in skin homeostasis
as well as skin disorders. For example, a
stressful situation may induce the release
of neurotransmitters that affect hormone
production, thus resulting in a hormonal
imbalance that worsens acne or other skin
disorders. Conversely, neurotransmitters
that release
b -endorphins provide
wellness and pleasure and quantitatively
improve skin appearance. In addition to
these benefits, b-endorphins accelerate
skin regeneration and wound healing.

Rhodiola rosea (roseroot) extract in the
new Nighttime Enzyme Refining Gel.

The Euro is hitting record highs against the
dollar so expect imported essential oils and
raw materials to keep increasing in price.
At the same time, you might still come out
ahead if you think, “EXPORT.” U.S. finished
products are in high demand overseas.
Certain resources such as ylang ylang from
Madagascar and Bulgarian rose continue to be
scarce in supply but luckily we have secured
our position in the market with our treasured
distillers in these countries. Contact us for
samples of the 2007 distillations of Organic
Bulgarian Lavender and Rose essential oils
which are now available.

Good Sleeping with Lemon Verbena©
VERBENA ALOYSIA TRIPHYLLA

General Information — This scent is
strongly citrus with a floral note and a
woody finish. The oil is expensive and
often other oils are substituted for it. It is a
powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-viral.
The tea is helpful for sleeping, the hydrosol
when sprayed on the face, can help to keep
you awake on a long drive.
Name — Verbena means sacred boughs
and plants used medicinally; Aloysia is
after Maria Louise, the Princess of Parma
who died in 1819 and triphylla means
leaves in whorls of threes.
Sleeping Potion — You can make a tea of
Lemon Verbena herb for sleeping or take a
teaspoon of the hydrosol in a cup of warm
water before bed.
When to Distill — Distill the leaves before
flowering, discard the heavier stems.
During or after flowering, citral is reduced
while other components are increased.
Use of the Essential Oil — This essential
oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory, fever
reducer and sedative. It is generally
inhaled for stress, insomnia, depression,
and nervous fatigue and to help during
an asthmatic crisis. Strongly anti-viral, it is
applied directly to a cold sore to reduce
pain and symptoms.

Helpful Hints
To refresh any room, dab a very small
amount of pure lemongrass oil on a cloth
or paper towel and wipe along baseboards
or window sills being careful to not apply
so much oil that it could damage finishes.

Protect your investment by keeping oils
stored properly in a cool dark place, in
full containers, especially the citruses

Blending for body and face care products
can be tricky. Always test a small amount
of your blend in an unscented base first.
Generally, 1% of a blend is safe for body.
Less is more for the face. Depending on the
oils used, approximately .25-.5% is plenty.
