Stadium Competitions
TERMS & CONDITIONS
This document is to be read in conjunction with the Seasonal Competition Information pack. Anything
contained within this document is current and must be adhered to at all times whilst competing,
participating or spectating any of the Competitions that are governed by Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic and
Fitness Centre.
1. GOVERNANCE
1.1 The seasonal competitions are run and organised by Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre.
1.2 Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre reserves the right to:
(a) refuse the admission of a team and/or a player into the Competition.
(b) to cancel the registration of a player and/or a team in the Competition.
(c) suspend or disqualify a team from the Competition.
(d) suspend or disqualify a player from the Competition.
Rules
1.4 Rules are in accordance with the Official Rule Book and Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre
Social Sport Rules & Terms & Conditions (Specific competition rules are circulated to the Team Manager as well
as available court side on Match day).
Referees
1.5 All referee's decisions are final and cannot be changed. Protesting a referee's decision will not be tolerated.
1.6 If there is no official referee at a game then:
(a) both teams must agree on a substitute referee for the entire match;
OR
each team MUST provide a substitute referee for half the game.
(b) A substitute referee has the same status as an official referee.
2. REGISTRATION & FEES
2.1 Each team wanting to play in the competition must fill in a team registration form. Submitting a team
registration form with the required registration fee is a request for a place in the competition. It does not assure
a place in the competition.
2.2 Each player wanting to register must complete all fields of the team registration form. By registering for the
competition a player agrees to abide by the laws and guidelines of the competition and accepts the inherent
risks of injury and/or death that come with participation in this competition.
2.3 Lodgement of the team registration application form must be accompanied by payment. This can be done
Credit Card or cash. A complete lodgement including the payment and the team registration forms.
2.4 At the discretion of the Stadium Coordinator, teams will not be permitted to commence the competition
until all registrations and payments have been lodged.
2.5 At the discretion of the Stadium Coordinator, and only after this has been communicated and approved by
the Stadium Coordinator, a team may deregister from the competition
2.6 A player may not take the field until all fees are paid and the appropriate section of the team registration
form is completed and accepted by the Stadium Coordinator.
2.7 Player’s Age
 No Player will be accepted in to any competition that is under 16 years of age at the start of round 1 for the
respective competition
 For players under the age of 18; a liability and indemnity waiver needs to be signed by a parent/guardian
(provided by the Stadium Coordinator)
 For all players under the of 18, a parent or guardian needs to be present at every match for them to be eligible
to play
3. COMPETITION STRUCTURE
3.1 Safety
 All Participants must demonstrate a duty of care towards everyone at Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness
Centre


Dangerous and reckless play will not be tolerated
Any action that is deemed dangerous, aggressive and/or intimidated will not be
tolerated and may cause players/teams being withdrawn from all and future
competitions
3.2 Drugs & Alcohol
 If officials (i.e. Court Supervisor, referee or umpire) believe you are impaired by drugs
and alcohol – you will not play and be asked the leave the centre immediately.
3.3 Jewellery/Finger Nails
 All Jewellery must be removed before playing, even studs and wedding rings
 Finger nails protruding past the fingertip must be cut or covered with gloves, not taped
3.4 Uniforms/Equipment
 All teams must provide their own uniform & Equipment by Round 2 of the competition
 Basketball
o All players within the team must wear the same coloured shirt/singlet/bib. All players must have their
own unique number clearly visible on their outfit/person. Those not wearing the correct colours won’t be
allowed to take the court
 Netball
 Players are advised to wear gloves or a material tape (not sticky tape) if their nails are deemed to be
longer than the finger tips
 Nails will be checked by the umpires at the start of each match
 No jewellery, bands, necklaces can be worn. They must be removed or taped to the player’s body. This is
for the safety of the wearer and others.
 Bibs must be worn at all times
 Futsal
 All team members must wear the same coloured shirts with numbers on the back.
 The goal keeper must wear a different coloured shirt when compared to their own team and opponents
 All team members must wear shin pads covered by long socks
 Volleyball
 No uniforms are required, however Knee Pads are strongly advised
3.5 Team Make up
 Basketball

A complete team on court has a total of five players with no more than three men (2 male and 3
females, 3 male and 2 female).
Teams can have a minimum of three people on court with at least one person of each gender.
Teams that cannot field a correct team will be deemed to have forfeited the match.
Men cannot block females. They can only defend with their arms up and without jumping.

A complete team on court contains a maximum of five people with a maximum of 3 males (2
male and 3 female and3 male and 2 female)
Teams can have a minimum of three players starting a match with at least one person of each
gender.
One player must be nominated as the goal keeper and be easily distinguishable
Teams that cannot field a correct team will be deemed to have forfeited the match.
The perfect side consists of 7 players with a maximum of 3 males. There cannot be more than
one male in each third
Teams can contain 7 females on the court at once
Teams can play with a minimum of 5 players. Less than 5 will result in a forfeit but a friendly
match can still be played.
Volleyball

A complete team on court contains a maximum of 6 people with at least two people of each
gender (2 male and 4 females, 3 male and 3 females, 4 males and 2 female)
Teams can have a minimum of 4 players with at least one person of each gender
3.6 Structure
 Competitions are typically between 8 & 10 round + 2 bonus weeks for finals for
eligible teams
 No discount will apply to seasons that are less than 10 rounds in length and the
fee is set
 When all registrations have been received, a competition that has 12 or more
teams will be divided into two divisions. The Stadium Coordinator will allocate
teams based on the team’s preference and previous performances.
 There is no strict relegation and promotion procedure between divisions but it may be used as to benefit
the competition
 Competitions that have less than 12 teams will have divisions if appropriate.
 Length of season are subject to vary to accommodate events/other bookings/public
holidays/maintenance. As such, there is no set length of season.
3.7 Game Times
 Will be published on the website and on SportFix.net. Please note that game times may change
throughout the season due to special events.
o Corporate Competitions (Lunch Time) Games can be between 11:00am – 3:00pm
o Evening Competitions: Games can be between 6:00pm – 10:30pm

3.9 Clock Stoppages
 Basketball
o There is no shot clock applied – However, an excessive delay of game will not be tolerated
o The clock stops if the points differential is 6 points or less within the last two minutes for lunch
competitions (7+ points the clock will NOT be stopped)
o The clock stop if the points differential is 9 points or less within the last two minutes for evening
competitions (10+ points the clock will NOT be stopped)
 Futsal, Netball & Volleyball
o No stoppages during regular play
3.10 Substitutions
Basketball – On any whistle
Futsal – At any time (But must be made within 3 metres of half way)
Netball – After a point has been scored and/or at half time
Volleyball – During Rotations
3.11 Commencement of matches
 Play can commence when all players are on the court and have signed on the official match card with
the relevant details as made out in the sports specific rules
 Play can commence when each team has the minimum required players to take the field
o Basketball


Men’s teams must have a minimum number of 4 people on the court.
Mixed teams must have a minimum number of 3 people on the court with at least
one person of each gender.
o
Futsal


o
Men’s teams with less than 3 players will have been deemed
to have forfeited the match
Mixed teams can have a minimum of three players starting a
match with at least one person of each gender.
Netball
 Teams can play with a minimum of 5 players present, with a
maximum of 3 males
o
Volleyball


Teams can have a minimum of 4 players with at least one person of each gender
Penalties apply for teams that are not ready at their designated start time, and are incurred as follows:
o Basketball
 A late team will be punished 2 points for every minute they are late
o Futsal
 Penalised one goal for every two minutes they are late. The game will be declared a
forfeit if a team is 5 mins late.
o
Netball
 A late team will grant 1 goal to the opposition for every minute they are late. This
o
Volleyball
will continue for 5 minutes when a forfeit will be recorded.

Concedes 2 points for every minute they are late. This continues for 8 minutes
when at that stage the late team will concede a forfeit.
3.12 Forfeits and Forfeiture
 Teams are encouraged to take the field with a full complement of players, however a team will forfeit
the match if they have less than the minimum required for each sport by 10 minutes past their
scheduled start time.
 Teams must notify the Stadium Coordinator AND Reception before 10:30am, for lunchtime
competitions, and 4pm for evening competitions, the day of the match if they are to forfeit the match.
Not doing so will result in minus 3 competition points. It is preferred that any available players turn up
and play a friendly match with the opposition.
 Teams who forfeit for a third time during the season will be penalised 3 points for every forfeited week
thereafter
 Should a team have less than the minimum players present, they may still borrow players from ANY
team, however, this match will be classified as a ‘forfeit’ and the appropriate result awarded.
 Any team playing an unregistered or disqualified player will be deemed to have forfeited the match and
the appropriate points/goals will be awarded to the opposition.
 No new teams will be registered after the lodgement cut-off date, unless approved by the Stadium
Coordinator.
3.13 Extra players/Borrowing of players
 Basketball
o Men’s teams must have a minimum number of 4 people on the court.
o Mixed teams must have a minimum number of 3 people on the court with at least one person of each
gender.
o Teams can bring extras to make up the team each week as long as the stadium coordinator is contacted
beforehand.
 Teams are allowed to borrow players as long as:
o Both the referee and the captain from the opposition have agreed
o The borrowed players are from different divisions (when applied)
o The team has, at least, more than half of their own player’s present
o No substitution will be permitted, meaning you can only borrow enough to make up an “on court”
team.
o Teams cannot borrow players from a division above (i.e. Registered Div. 1 player cannot play for a
Div. 2 team)


On court a team consists of 5 players, 4 court players and 1 goal keeper
Teams are allowed to borrow players as long as:
Both the referee and the captain from the opposition have agreed
The borrowed players are from different divisions (when applied)
The team has, at least, more than half of their own player’s present
No substitution will be permitted, meaning you can only borrow enough to
make up an “on court” team.
The perfect side consists of 7 players with a maximum of 3 males. There cannot be more than one
male in each third
Teams can contain 7 females on the court at once
Teams can play with a minimum of 5 players. Less than 5 will result in a forfeit but a friendly match
can still be played.
Teams are allowed to borrow players as long as:
Both the umpire and the captain from the opposition have agreed
The borrowed players are from different divisions (when applied)
The team has, at least, more than half of their own player’s present
No substitution will be permitted, meaning you can only borrow enough to make up an “on court”
team.
Volleyball

3.14 Managers
All teams must have a designated manager/team contact before the team is permitted to play. It is up to the
team to inform the Stadium Coordinator if a new team manager is chosen. All communication from teams to
the Stadium Coordinator is to be through the team managers. Additionally, each team must elect a vicecaptain who will be contacted in the event of the manager’s absence
3.15 Team contacts/managers will be responsible for The behaviour of the team and their followers.
 Ensuring that team sheets are correctly completed before the game commences.
 Collecting & distributing information to all team members, on a weekly basis.
3.16 Results
The weekly results and team standings will be uploaded on https://sportfix.net and available on
http://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/explore/facilities/swimming-pools/cook-phillip-park-aquatic-and-fitnesscentre . Please regularly check these results to ensure correctness. Any issues contact the Stadium Coordinator
immediately.
3.17 Disqualified Teams or Teams Leaving the Competition
All games involving this team/s will have 0 points and 0 goals recorded. This applies both to played and
unplayed games.
3.18 Match Days and Times
 All games are played within the Cook + Phillip Park Fitness and Aquatic Centre Stadium
 Lunch matches are scheduled between 11:00am and 3:00pm
 Evening matches are scheduled between 6:00pm and 10:00pm


Games are scheduled to commence at your scheduled match time
Prior to the commencement of the competition, a finalised draw will be
available on Sportfix for team managers. These times are subject to change; so
please check the website regularly.
 Games may start up to 5 minutes later than above by agreement between the
two team managers. However, games must finish on time.
 There is a one-minute half time break.
 No time will be added on for injuries etc.
3.19 Competition Ladders and Draws
 It is the team and the managers responsibility to continually check the

 Schedules/draws can change without notice
 Where possible, team managers will be notified of any changes. However, failure to appear to at the
correct match time due to a change in schedule is the sole responsibility of the team and its manager.
 No compensation will be offered for changes of schedule affecting teams and/or their results
3.20 Team Sheets
 Players must sign on the official scoresheet before the match. The latest that a player may “sign on” is
at half time. The scoresheet is available at the sign in table next to the stadium
 All players, including substitutes must sign the scoresheet and write their number in the box provided.
 Players that arrive after the game has commenced must “sign on” at half time.
 Failure to correctly fill in the team sheet may lead to suspension or disqualification of the player and or
the team.
 Managers are responsible for ensuring that scoresheets are signed by every competing player and
signed off at the end of the match
3.21 Competition Adjustment
 At a time, no later than the completion of Round 2, there may be scope for a change of divisions for
teams dominating in Division 2, or overly struggling in Division 1.
 In this event, consultation between Team Managers and the Stadium Coordinator will determine the
most suitable division for the team/s in question.
 Should there be a need to change division, which can only occur up until Round 2, the points and goal
difference to be carried over will be determined on a case by case scenario, for the best of the
competition.
 Any results for the teams that are to remain in their respective division will stand.
4. DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES
The Team Manager on behalf of the team, acknowledges and signs to state they have understood and agreed to
abide by these disciplinary procedures.
4.1 Player Game Conduct
First Offence
If a player acts in an inappropriate manner, verbally or physically, the game will be stopped and a verbal
warning will be issued by the referee (or Stadium Coordinator or their representative) to the offender. This may
result in a yellow card being issued.
Second Offence
Should the behaviour continue, or the official feels the first incident was substantial enough; the officials will
issue the player with a red card. This player will spend the remainder of the match off the court (and be asked
to leave the centre) and will not be replaced.
4.2 Team Game Conduct
First Offence
Should a team not behave in an inappropriate way, the game will be stopped and the officials will issue a verbal
warning to the team manager who is to enforce the warning with his team.
Second Offence
On the second offence, the convenor or responsible official will issue a final verbal warning and explain the
consequences, should the team continue the conduct.
Third Offence
On the third offence, the team will be asked to leave the centre and will forfeit that
game and the opposing team will win on forfeit.
Cook and Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre reserves the right to remove a team,
or player, from the competition, without refund, should inappropriate behaviour
continue during the season.
6. Round Cancellation
6.1 – In the event a round requires to be cancelled, the Stadium Coordinator will
contact the team managers as early as possible to inform them of the cancellation. A replacement round will
endeavour to be organised. If this cannot be accommodated, the round will be lost without compensation
6.2 Should a replacement round be organised; teams will be informed and schedules circulated at the earliest
possible time
7. Refunds/Withdrawals from Competitions
7.1 – Cook + Phillip Park MAY issue a refund of a team’s registration fee only if written confirmation requesting
your team’s withdrawal is submitted and accepted by the Stadium Coordinator
7.2 – For such a request a $50.00 administration fee applies to teams whom with to de-register within 7 days
prior to the commence of the competitions
7.3 – Team Registrations Fees are strictly non-refundable and all invoiced registrations must be paid in full
prior to the commencement of Round 1 (Failure to do so may result in teams being disqualified all and future
competitions)
8. Use of Cook + Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre Facilities





Participants are permitted to use the appropriately labelled change rooms within the centre
However, for non-member participant’s other facilities including the centre’s pool’s, Health and
Fitness Club and all other areas are not available for use at any time.
Failure to adhere to this rule may result in your team being withdrawn from all and future
competitions.
To become a member, please visit reception.
Upon completion of your match, we ask that you vacate the centre as quick as possible.
9. FINALS
9.1 Finals Selection
At the completion of all the rounds prior to the semi-finals the results are considered by Sportfix in the
following order:
1. Competition Points
2. Goal/Points difference
3. Goals/Points scored
4. Count back of the results until one team has a point’s lead
5. Count back of the results until one team has a goal difference lead
6. Count back of the results until one team has a goals score lead
9.2 Finals Structure
The finals structure will be confirmed and circulated amongst the teams once all registrations have been
received and the draw is finalised.
9.3 Drawn Matches in the Finals
In the event of a draw in the finals, where possible, two halves of 5 minutes will be played with golden goal rule
applying. If scores are still equal a penalty shootout will occur.
Basketball
- If the score is tied at the end of playing time, extra time of five (5) minutes total will be played. Fouls
will carry over into extra time and the last 3 mins is fully timed.
Futsal

Extra time will include 3 minutes with golden goal rule applying
If scores are still tied after extra time a penalty shootout will occur. Penalties
will be taken from the centre of the basketball free throw line as marked on the
courts
Netball
- One extra periods of 5 minutes shall be played, with the teams changing ends.
If scores are still tied, play will continue until one team is 2 goals in front
10. INSURANCE
10.1 EXTENT AND COVER OF INSURANCE
 Personal Health insure is the responsibility of the individual player
 It is highly advised that each participant/player consult a doctor and/or health professional prior to
commencing any physical activity with Cook + Phillip Park and any of its competitions
 Cook and Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre Competitions DOES NOT provide individual player
insurance for issues relating to injury or death whilst competing in any competition
 Registered players acknowledge the inherent risks associated with playing sport and should find an
appropriate insurance policy to provide cover in case of sustained injury or death.
Personal injury insurance is the responsibility of the individual player
