4A Li Tsz Ming At the Cake Shop Last weekend, Matthew wanted to buy a cake for his sister’s birthday. He went to Delicious Cake Shop on foot at one o’clock in the afternoon. He felt happy. First, Matthew saw a strawberry cake and a chocolate cake. The strawberry cake was cheaper than the chocolate cake. He thought the chocolate cake was more delicious than the strawberry cake so he wanted to buy the chocolate cake. Then Matthew wanted to take out his wallet but he couldn’t find his wallet. Oh no! He forgot to bring his wallet so he couldn’t buy the chocolate cake. He was upset and disappointed. Finally, Matthew went home to get his wallet and went to Delicious Cake Shop to buy the chocolate cake for his sister. His sister liked the cake and said thank you to Matthew. They had a good day. 4B Man Long Ching At the supermarket Susie and her mum were at the supermarket. Her mum asked, ‘What would you like for breakfast tomorrow?’ Susie said, ‘I like sandwiches.’ Her mum asked, ‘Which would you like, tuna sandwiches or cheese sandwiches?’ Susie said, ‘Erm…um…Should I have tuna sandwiches or cheese sandwiches?’ Then Susie said, ‘The cheese sandwiches are more expensive than the tuna sandwiches but I like the tuna sandwiches.’ Her mum said, ‘OK! Let’s choose the tuna sandwiches. We need to buy some juice.’ Susie said, ‘I like apple juice.’ But there was no apple juice. Her mum said, ‘There is no apple juice. Kong Lok Yin, Max Hong Kong 50 years ago Hong Kong was very different 50 years ago. 50 years ago, Hong Kong only had single-deck buses and it was very hot in there and the buses were very slow. They were smaller than now too. The buildings were lower and old. There were just seven to eight floors. Now, the buildings are very beautiful, tall and new. Some people lived in small huts and their toilets were outside but now all the toilets are in the buildings. The schools were very different too. The schools were smaller than now. There weren’t any computers and the tables were very old too. Now, we have big classrooms, many computers and big playgrounds. In old Hong Kong, nobody played electronic games and nobody had mobile phones. The children played hopscotch, hide-and-seek and bean bags. I sometimes play these games with my friends at school and during PE lessons but now children normally play electronic games and mobile phone games. In the past, there weren’t any supermarkets but markets instead. People also bought food from the food stalls. I still see some food stalls now! I think the markets are dirty and the floors are wet. I don’t like going to the markets but the food there is fresher and tastier. I feel overjoyed because life is much better now and we have electronic games and computers.
