The 7th and 8th grade classes are holding an “All You Can Eat” Spaghetti and
Meatball dinner in the school gym on Saturday, February 24th. Serving time is

TIME TO ORDER YEARBOOKS!
Yearbooks are a great keepsake for every child! They contain individual portraits of students
and staff, candid pictures taken throughout the school year, and pictures of special programs and
chapels. What adult doesn’t like to go back through their own yearbook and revisit their school
days? Don’t miss out on an opportunity to own this full-color book for your child(ren). Each book
costs only $9. All orders must be received by March 2, 2007. Please complete the appropriate
order form and send it in with your payment to the school office.

THE COLD AND FLU SEASON IS UPON US
Lately there have been many absences due to both colds and stomach viruses. Since we all want
to prevent the spreading of germs, we are reminding everyone of the guidelines to use in
determining when your child should return to school after being sick.
Vomiting/Diarrhea: Children should be symptom free for 24 hours and be
able to hold down foods and fluids before returning to school.
Strep Throat: Children may return to school 24 - 48 hours after the first
dose of antibiotics therapy has been started, providing they feel well enough
to attend and do not present other symptoms.
Fever: Children may return to school when their temperature has been
normal for 24 hours. Tylenol (acetaminophen), Motrin, or Advil (ibuprofen)
may lower an elevated temperature; therefore, children should be off any of
these medications for 24 hours as well.
Cold: Children should stay home if they are too uncomfortable to complete
school work. They should also stay home if they have a severe cough.
Pink Eye/Conjunctivitis: Three sets of eye drops are needed and no drainage and/or crusting in
the morning before returning to school.
Please remember good nutrition and hand washing are our #1 way to prevent spread of disease.
If in doubt, please call Nurse Norton at the school, extension #12.

A NOTE FROM MRS. NYMAN
To My Wonderful Students: Thank you so much for the beautiful shower you had for my baby
and me. I really appreciate all the generosity and love you showed. My family and I feel really
blessed to have been showered with so many gifts, cards and well wishes. Thank you for all the
diapers, wipes, bathing products, medical products, clothing, blankets, books, toys, bottles, bibs
and everything else. My husband and I feel completely ready for the little guy’s arrival; the only
thing we need now is the baby. Thank you also for the extremely generous gift cards to BabiesR-Us. I went shopping with Miss Wright and Mrs. Plantenga the next day and bought a few items
that the baby still needed such as a monitor. We had a great time shopping for the baby.
I would like to thank several moms: Donna Babich, Michele Torppey, Amy
McCann, Cheryl Brands, Judy Bahr and Nancy McDonald for all they did to make
the day special for me. The food tables were set up beautifully; I especially
loved the chocolate fountain. Thank you also to the OEL for the decorations;
the gym looked wonderful. Thank you also to the Clove Brook Deli and the
Holland American Bakery for their wonderful cakes; they were thoroughly
enjoyed. Thank you for all your help preparing me for my new baby. I will miss
Sussex Christian School very much while I am on maternity leave.
