Colmore Farms – Rising Fawn, GA
Fall Creek Farms – Pikeville, TN
Colmore Farms is located
on Lookout Mountain
near Rising Fawn, GA,
fifteen miles South of
Chattanooga, TN. They
purchased their first Salers
bull in 1987. His first calf
crop convinced them
that they were onto something good. In addition to
commercial success, Colmore Farms has exhibited
two National Futurity Champion Bulls and numerous
Champions shown by Salers Juniors and in open bull
and female shows. The goal at Colmore Farms is to
produce show quality cattle that can also go out in
the real world and produce high gaining top quality
commercial cattle. Jo and Susan look forward to
seeing everyone on the tour.
Ronnie and his wife Regina
began breeding Salers cattle
in 1990. They currently
raise both commercial and
registered Salers cattle.
Ronnie studies grasses and
legumes and will show the
group some of the changes
he has made to native pastureland. Ronnie dedicated
many years to the leadership of the Salers breed
in addition to serving as ASA president. The Salers
operation gives Ronnie the opportunity to spend
quality time with the grandson Alex.
Point Park – Lookout Mountain GA
Point Park was built in 1905 high atop Lookout
Mountain too commemorate the “Battle Above the
Clouds.” This Civil War battle in which the Confederate
soldiers used the mountain as both an observation
post and a gun position to fire on the Union Army.
Point Park contains numerous monuments to the men
who fought and died. The New York Peace Memorial
features a Union and a Confederate soldier shaking
hands.
Tour goers will have
the opportunity to ride
the Incline Railway. The
thrill of riding “America’s
Most Amazing Mile” has
delighted guests for over
a century. The Incline
Railway up historic Lookout
Mountain is the world’s steepest passenger railway. In
operation since 1895, the incline is a National Historic
site and Mechanical Engineering Landmark.
Triple C Farms – Jamestown, TN
Edwin, Linda and Jason
Conatser joined the
American Salers Association
in 1994 and have played an
active role in the Association
ever since. Linda has been
very instrumental in the

Directors.
The Conatser’s have been avid supporters of the
American Salers Junior Association (ASJA) and
played a key part in continuing to grow the Junior
Association in their home state. Jason also served on
the ASJA Board of Directors and now participates with
his family at the National level. They have diverse
interests outside of the cattle business which include
chicken farms, a pharmacy and a florist shop. Triple
C Farms is excited to host the International Salers
Federation Tour.

AUGUST 2015
Grand Ole Opry – Nashville, TN
2015 marks the 90th year
of great country music!
What began as a simple
radio broadcast in 1925 is
today a live entertainment
phenomenon. Dedicated to
honoring country music’s rich
history and dynamic present,
the Grand Ole Opry showcases a mix of country
legends and the contemporary chart-toppers who
have followed in their footsteps.
It’s been called the “home of American music” and
“Country’s most famous stage.” Every year, hundreds
of thousands of people make pilgrimages across town
or around the world to the Opry to see the show live.
ISF Tour participants will be part of the special 90th
birthday bash for the Opry. Come join us!
Konow Farms – Franklin, KY
Konow Farms first began
using Salers bulls in the early
1980’s on their commercial
herd. The purpose of the
program at Konow Farms is
to produce functional cattle
that will work in any area of
the cattle industry. They have built their program
with the commercial cattleman in mind. They are
geared toward a commercial operation because, “in
the end we are all selling pounds and Salers cattle
will do just that.” In addition to livestock, the Konow
Family also farms and will show participants about
Kentucky farming. Joe, Chad and Corey welcome you
to Kentucky.
Diamond J – Eubank, KY
2015 marks the 60th year of
Diamond J Farms. In 1995,
Donald Johnson purchased
two horned Hereford cow/
calf pairs and a bull for his
high school F.F.A. project. He
continued raising Herefords
until the 1980s, when the Hereford cows were no
longer quality producers for his operation. He went
to a commercial herd and began to test different
breeds of bulls on his herd. In 1992, he purchased
a Salers bull and the next years calf crop was what
AMERICAN SALERS
he had been looking for. He began purchasing Salers
cows and today, his small herd of purebred Salers
located in Eubank, Kentucky, is run by Donald and
wife Lana. The Jonson’s have three adult sons;
Stephen (Alesa), Stacy (Sandy), Jason (Tammy) and
six grandchildren, Ashley, Brentley, Emma (deceased),
AnnaBeth, Jayci, and Lukas. The Salers cattle continue
to be the most fertile and productive breed we know
about.
Willis Farms – Frankfurt, KY
Owner Danny Willis and Willis
Farms have over 30 years
experience in the cattle business.
They have one of the largest
herds of registered Salers in
Kentucky. Willis Farms focuses
on calving ease, disposition, milk
and top weaning weights. Herd sires include Stetson,
Topeka, Top Level, OPP Intrepid, and Strategy.
Willis Farms were the breeders of the 2015 National
Champion Female - WF Yolanda. Willis Farms and the
Kentucky Department of Agriculture welcome the ISF
Tour to Kentucky.
WinStar Thoroughbred Farm – Versailles, KY
WinStar Farm is a leading
Thoroughbred racing, stallion
and breeding operation located
in the heart of the Kentucky
Bluegrass. Founded in 2000, they
have had eleven horses run in
the past five Kentucky Derbies,
with Super Saver winning the Run for the Roses in
2010. WinStar Farm, focuses on profitability, exists
by maintaining excellence in horse care, integrity,
innovation and by doing the little things that make a
big difference.
JBS Five Rivers Feedyard – Greeley, CO
As the world’s largest cattle
feeding company, JBS Five
Rivers Cattle Feeding, a wholly
owned subsidiary of JBS, is
well positioned to lead the
cattle feeding industry into the
future. The company operates
12 feedyards in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas,
Arizona, Idaho and Alberta, Canada and markets more
than 1.5 million head of cattle per year.

JBS Meat Beef Packing Plant – Greeley, Co
Located on the Colorado
front range, the Greeley beef
processing facility serves
customers throughout the U.S.
and exports more than 30% of
its production to 20 different countries around the
world, including Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. The
plant employs more than 3,000 people and markets
more than $2 billion in annual livestock payments.
Bill Koch’s Old West Town Kebler Pass –
Somerset, CO
There’s a new town in Colorado.
It has about 50 buildings,
including a saloon, a church,
jail, firehouse, livery and a train
station. The town sits on 420
acres in the Bear Ranch below
the Ragged Wilderness Area.
Its full-sized buildings come with polished brass and
carved-mahogany details and are fronted with board
sidewalks and underpinned by a water-treatment
system. Salers participants are in for a rare treat as Bill
Koch’s Old West Town is not open to the public.
Figure 4 Cattle Company – Somerset, CO
The Volk Ranch was established
in 1911 and is currently operated
by George, Gary & Gail Volk.
The summer home for Figure 4
Cattle lies under this one of a
kind Ragged Mountain. A five
16
mile long mountain rises from 9000 to 12,000 feet in
elevation almost straight up.
In the late 80’s George Jr., Gary and wife-Gail built the
herd from 35 to 700 head of high percentage Salers;
including over 100 head of full French Salers cows.
We are trying our best to maintain the true Salers
genetics that took the cattle industry by storm in the
80”s and 90’s.
Hoover Dam – Nevada
Hoover Dam (also known as
Boulder Dam) is one of the
largest in America. It was built
between 1931 and 1936 across
Black Canyon and above the
mighty Colorado River. It’s a
national historical landmark with
remarkable views of the Colorado River, Lake Mead,
and the canyons and valleys surrounding it.
The dam is named after Herbert Hoover, the U.S.
president who agreed to have the dam built so
that Nevada, California, and Arizona could increase
irrigation waters and manage flood waters, and create
hydroelectric-power. It was built in just five years an impressive feat, considering the dam is made of
enough concrete to pave a road from New York to
California.
Hoover Dam stands 726 feet (220 m) above the
Colorado River. The observation deck set above
the dam provides scenic, 360-degree views of the
Colorado River and nearby Lake Mead.
