DALLAS STARS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION Made up of former Dallas

DALLAS STARS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Made up of former Dallas Stars and local NHL alumni, the Dallas Stars Alumni
Association (DSAA) uses hockey as a vehicle to serve the local community. As
ambassadors of the sport, DSAA members act as role models, support charitable
initiatives, and promote the growth of hockey throughout the Texas region.
COMMUNITY CHEST
The Dallas Stars Alumni Association is strongly committed to supporting the local
hockey community in times of need. The Community Chest Game is a fundraiser
providing an annual platform for the DSAA to fulfill its charter and support the local
community. By championing a worthwhile cause and strengthening ties with the
youth hockey network, DSAA members serve as ambassadors for charitable
initiatives.
INAUGURAL COMMUNITY CHEST GAME presented by Black Diamond Group
The Dallas Stars Alumni Association will hold its first-ever Community Chest Hockey
Game on March 22, 2014, at American Airlines Center. The inaugural game will take
place following the Dallas Stars vs. Ottawa Senators game that begins at 2:00 p.m.,
where local area youth hockey players will have the opportunity to play alongside
former Dallas Stars legends by fundraising on behalf of the Community Chest.
Stars Alumni Participation
Mike Modano, Joe Nieuwendyk, Jere Lehtinen, Ed Belfour, Marty Turco, Andy Moog,
Craig Ludwig, Brent Severyn, Jason Arnott, Stu Barnes, Steve Dykstra, Gerald Diduck,
Dan Blackburn, Bob Bassen, and Landon Wilson are all scheduled to appear in the
Community Chest Hockey Game.
Youth Hockey Participation
Players can qualify to play in the game by fundraising on behalf of the Community
Chest. The more donations a youth hockey player receives, the greater his or her
chances will be of playing in the game. Select youth hockey players have a unique
opportunity to skate with Stars legends on the same ice that the Dallas Stars play on
at American Airlines Center. Youth players will be encouraged to wear their youth
hockey team’s jerseys during the game and show their team pride.
The Stryker Family
The game will be played in memory of local hockey player Travis Stryker, along with
parents James and Rebecca, who were killed in a tragic car accident en-route to a
Las Vegas hockey tournament last November. Travis’ twin brother and teammate
on the DJHA U16 team, Austin, survived the crash. The proceeds from the
Community Chest Game will benefit the Stryker Family, including Austin and sister
Stephanie, and will go toward supporting the future needs of the hockey community
in Texas.
