2014 Race Weekend Information First, on behalf of everyone from the Syracuse Half Marathon we would like to thank you for joining us this weekend! You and 1500 other runners will hit the streets of Syracuse this Sunday and we wanted to give you all some information to make your experience as enjoyable and safe as possible. 1. Early Packet Pickups Encouraged: Please come to Fleet Feet Sports Syracuse (Dewitt), the official running store partner of the Syracuse Half Marathon, on Saturday (March 22nd) between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. 2. Race Day Packet Pickup: On race day between 6:30 am and 7:45 am inside the OnCenter. Please arrive early to get your packet so that we can start the race promptly at 8:00 am. 3. Race Day Parking: The parking lot or parking garage across the street from the OnCenter is FREE. These lots hold over 1300 vehicles so there is plenty of space. To access these areas, as you head west from 81 down Harrison you can turn left on Townsend St and the lots will be on your right. More information can be found here: http://oncenter.org/media/parking_map4.pdf. Street parking is also free but we ask that you please do not park on State Street, as this is part of the course. 4. OnCenter Restrooms: There will be plenty of restrooms available inside the OnCenter. The restrooms in Exhibit Hall B, Exhibit Hall A and adjacent to the Grand Ballroom will all be open for your convenience. There will also be Port-Potties near the finish line. If you notice a line forming at a restroom, please find another one. 5. Course Restrooms: Porta-Potties will be located at aid stations #2, #3, & #4. Each set of porta-potties will be placed slightly PAST each aid station. 6. Ready, Set, Go…. The race will be starting at 8:00 am sharp. The roads are not closed to traffic. Runners will have a dedicated, coned-off lane but no roads are closed to traffic. We ask that NO one run with headphones, iPods, strollers or anything of this nature. This is for your safety, as we want you to be fully aware of your surroundings. Please line up according to a realistic pace that you plan to run. Up front we will have the elites and the sub-7 min per mile pace. This will then be followed by the 7-min to 9-min per mile pace. We have an on-course time limit of 4hrs at which point the course will be closed and re-opened to traffic. Please be advised that if you do not reach the 10K mark by 9:55 am, you will be asked to use the sidewalk and obey all traffic laws. 7. Aid Stations. There will be five (5) aid stations on the course. These are at miles markers, 1.5, 3.5, 6, 8.5, and 11. Each aid station will have GU Brew (Raspberry or Lemon Lime) and water. Aid stations 3, and 4 will have GU energy gels (Lemon Lime Sublime, Espresso Love, and Roctane Chocolate Raspberry). We do ask that you help us keep this course clean and put your trash in the trash can and trash bags at the aid stations if possible. Awards Ceremony: At 10:30am, we will present a donation check to the Priscilla Mahar Animal Foundation (www.pmawf.org). Following this presentation we will be presenting awards for the top 3 overall and top 3 in each age group. 9. Bib Placement: Each bib has a timing chip secured on it. Please place your bib on your outermost running garment. Do not cover up your bib. In order to cross the finish line, your bib must be visible. This ensures timing results and accuracy. 10. Pre and Post Race: Before or after the race, make sure you stop by to see some of our sponsors and other local races inside Exhibit Hall B. Once you finish, head back inside Hall B for the TOPS Post Race Party and a hot pancake breakfast. Here you can also enjoy the music of Syracuse icon, Just Joe! . 11. Pictures: Our official photographer is Trent Willott photography. There will be several spots on the course where you will be photographed. Photos can be purchased when they are available (approx.
