Cedar Hill students, staff, and families are committed to ensuring high levels of learning for all students and
providing a positive, safe, and consistent climate that promotes student character.
Dear Parents (Guardians),
Here are the learning targets for the week of December 12th-16th:
READING:
I can compare various written conventions used for digital media.
I can explain text structures, features, and graphics of a web page and how they help readers
comprehend text.
ENGLISH:
I can listen, pose, respond, and discuss questions and others’ remarks.
I can follow multi-step directions.
I can draft a book on an informational topic.
I can include a glossary in my informational book.
I can include a section about the author in my informational book.
I can revise, edit, and type my final draft.
SPELLING:
I can write and apply the following new core words correctly: already, warm, gone, finally, &
summer
MATH:
I can solve short and long division problems.
I can solve word problems involving division and interpret the remainder. – test Wednesday (if
we are ready)
SOCIAL STUDIES:

SCIENCE:
I can describe and give examples of potential and kinetic energy.
I can describe static electricity.
I can do experiments on electricity: creating different types of circuits and do tests on conductors
and insulators. – test December 21st
SPECIAL NOTES

100% Club: Brooklyn, Ebonie, Allison, Amelia, Dhruv, Arjun, Andrew, JaQavion,
Aiden, Estella, Kyra, Stevenette, & Olivia
 We will have an awards assembly on January 27th at 9:45 a.m. Allison, Dylan and
JeryMyla will be recognized.
 Major Saver collection dates are December 8th – 14th.
 Bring in a can on Monday: hat, Tuesday: crazy hair, Wednesday: sunglasses, Thursday:
Santa hat, Friday: ugly Christmas sweater
 The Six Flags Read to Succeed sheet will be due December 16th. Please participate.
 Our Holiday Sing Along will be on December 21st at 2:15 p.m. with the party following at
3:00 p.m.
 We will have a three-hour Early Dismissal on December 22nd.
 Winter Break is December 23rd- January 2nd.
Yes, my child read at least 100 minutes at home last week.
