head of production

Job Description
HEAD OF PRODUCTION
£25,000pa, full-time, maternity cover
We are a small team who make videos and tell stories for a living. A large amount of our work is
for charities and non-profit making organisations, with a small amount of corporate work thrown in
for good measure. We have an informal, relaxed culture, driven by laughter, storytelling and many,
many cups of tea.
We have produced work for a wide variety of clients ranging from computer game giants
(Bethesda), technology giants (Nokia) and sporting giants (Jonny Wilkinson) but sadly no actual
giants. We’ve shot people in love, in the air, on the beach and on fire (although not at the same
time) across over a dozen different countries in locations ranging from the Circle Line to the Arctic
Circle. Our past collaborators include Joss Whedon, Lily James, Stephen Fry, Ian McKellen and
Andrew Scott.
We are looking to hire some to act as maternity cover for our current Head of Production. The role
is full-time, typically Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm, although may shift around based on shoots
and other productions. The majority of the role is based in our office in Ealing Studios, although will
occasionally include attending film shoots.
The role is paid at £25,000 per year, paid monthly. Our current Head of Production is expecting to
finish work at the end of March, likely returning at the start of next year. We would like the new
Head of Production to start in February to facilitate the handover and training.
Our ideal candidate is committed to the production side of filmmaking and is building a career in a
related field (i.e. film, television, online video, advertising, etc). They will have produced numerous
film projects, with some having budgets of at least £40,000.
The duties of the role will include:
 Producing the majority of our film projects.
 Being the main client contact and managing client relationships.
 Creating budgets and schedules, and ensuring the productions stay on plan.
 Co-ordinating freelance producers when times are busy.
 Managing the in-house Production Assistant and freelance Production Coordinators and
Line Producers, as needed.
To apply, please email [email protected], with the subject line “Head of Production cover
– [Your Name]”. In the email please explain your relevant experience, why we should hire
you and please attach a CV (no longer than two pages).
Please include links to relevant video work you have produced. Please do not include work you
have only directed, shot, scored or starred in, as this is not relevant to the job.
Deadline for applications is midday on Monday 23rd January 2017. Applications received after
this point cannot be considered.
Please do not call the office or contact us via social media. We often receive a large number of
enquiries and it can be disruptive to our work. All the information you need should be in this
document and online, but otherwise questions can be sent to [email protected].
