Daredevil Albinghadeer wins Bahrain Ninja contest
WINNERS of the Bahrain Ninja competition were honoured last night at
Bahrain National Stadium.
The week-long contest saw hundreds of adrenaline junkies pit their
wits against a larger-than-life assault
course featuring obstacles that tested
the participants’ balance, strength and
co-ordination.
Finalists were drawn from a pool
of teams representing national clubs,
youth centres, ministries and other
government and private sector institutions, as well as a group of sporty
individuals battling out among themselves for the title of first-ever Bahrain Ninja.
Yesterday’s grand finale saw some
fierce competition.
Team Siljeon Mo completed the
eight barriers in 3.10 minutes while
Masood Albinghadeer recorded a
score of 1.21 minutes in the individual category. Both Team Siljeon
Mo and Masood Albinghadeer were
named Bahrain Ninja.
Both Team Siljeon Mo and Team
Lacoste clocked 3.10 minutes and
finally during the extra advantage
Team Siljeon Mo won.
In the team category, the second
place winner was Team Lacoste and
third place went to Team Isa Town
Youth Centre with a score of 3:19
minutes.
In the individual category, second
place went to Yousif Al Muharaqi,
Bader Yousif and Abdulrahman
Ebrahim with a score of 1.22 minutes and third place went to Hamad
Al Yousif with a score of 1.25 minutes.
Designed by American production
company ATS Filmworks, the Bahrain Ninja assault course was the first
of its kind in the Middle East and was
inspired by courses featured in hit US
TV show American Ninja Warrior,
which was itself a spin-off of Japanese sports entertainment television
special Sasuke.
General Organisation for Youth
and Sport (Goys) president congratulated the winners and thanked Supreme Council for Youth and Sport
chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin
Hamad Al Khalifa, for his support to
Bahrain Ninja, which Goys aims to
make a yearly event.
