Captive Free, a youth ministry group, will be leading our chapel service on February 2nd. In order to keep costs at a minimum, they rely on their hosts to provide them meals and a bed to sleep in. If you would be interested in hosting one or more of these members on the evening of February 1st, please contact the school office. The group consists of 3 men and 3 women. You may choose to house one, two, or all of them. This is a great opportunity to show our guests the great Christian community we have here at ILS. For more hosting information, contact the office. Or, you can go online at http://www.youthencounter.org/Default.aspx?tabid=598. Thank you for your help! Page 2 THE LION’S ROAR Noticias de Clases de Español The 7th Grade class put together this picture book about how Epiphany is celebrated in Spanish speaking countries. Epiphany is celebrated on the 6th of January for Christians. In Spanish speaking countries the kids write letters to the Three Kings (Los Tres Reyes Magos) asking for presents. On the 5th of January, the families get together downtown to watch parades with floats exhibiting the children dressed up as the Three Kings. Before the kids go to bed they prepare water and grass for the camels and they leave their shoes outside of their doors for presents to be left. The next morning, the water and the grass are gone because the camels were very hungry and thirsty and the kids find their presents on top of their shoes. Submitted by Sra. Rago Volume 4, Issue 9 Page 3 Pr_s]hool’s D[n^y D[^s The half day Preschool four year olds have been learning their alphabet letters. We have been doing many different activities to help them remember the letters and their sounds. One of our favorite activities is figuring out riddles about things that begin with the letter of the week. We have a great bulletin board outside of our classroom that we did during D week a few weeks ago. We saved them for this month to share them with everyone. Each of the students drew their Dad's picture and dictated information regarding their Dads. Many of the children knew what their Dad's first name was but the guesses of dads' ages ranged from 5 years old to 300 years old. The students described the job that their dad's do. Some of the things they told about were what dad likes to make and do around the house, what he is good at and what he likes to eat. There is so much more fun information to read. If you are in the building come read and enjoy our Dandy Dad stories. Just a couple of the Dad portraits: Más Notas de la Clase española The 8th Grade class was asked to submit a paragraph in Spanish about their favorite holiday. Here are the two paragraphs we received: ♦ Katie Keller—Mi dia favorito es Noche Buena es una reunión para celebración.
