The new organization is a different approach for Sasol, which usually manages its reporting structure around business units related to production and sale of certain products. For many years, employees connected to the manufacturing facilities in Southwest Louisiana, Tucson, and our Threadneedle office in Houston have reported through the O&S (Olefins and Surfactants) business unit, while employees largely in California have reported into the Wax business unit and certain employees in Houston have reported through the Solvents business unit. Additionally, the Merisol company, which is now a full subsidiary of Sasol, has been reporting to a separate organization as well. While we have shared some services in North America over the years, such as payroll and information management, the multiple reporting lines tended to limit synergies and that will now be addressed with the new organizational structure. In the new eventual structure, all personnel associated with Operations (including Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics, Safety, Health and Environmental, etc.) and Functional Service (such as Information Management, Finance and Human Resources, etc.) will report into the Sasol North American Operations with Mike Thomas as our Vice President: US Operations. Services, which cannot be decoupled from the business units due to world-wide engagement or market/business focus, such as Planning and Optimization, Research and Development, Sales and Marketing, Business Development and Customer Service, etc., will continue to report into the respective business units they serve while receiving Functional support from the regional organization of Sasol North American Operations. sasol celebrates 10 years on the nyse On April 9, Sasol celebrated its 10 year anniversary of its listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Sasol CEO David Constable and Sasol’s executive management rang the closing bell to mark the occasion. The NYSE listing has made it possible for Sasol to access the U.S. capital market, which is the world’s largest, while growing its profile in this investment community as a compelling investment proposition. health corner As with any significant organizational change, some employees will be affected differently than others. Many will only notice a slight change of the company name on their pay check beginning in 2014, other employees will experience the changes that are required as a result of mergers and acquisition, which were already on-going. Trying to juggle work, family, friends and household responsibilities can be challenging. For many of us, there just doesn’t seem to be enough time in a day for all that and exercise, too. It’s time to put your health first. Tips to fit physical activity into your daily routine: • Wake up early. • Make those chores count. • Be active while watching TV. • Involve the whole family. • Take fitness breaks. • Put it on the calendar. • Get social. • Join a team. For more ways to get up and get active, contact our benefits specialist, Jessica Smith, at [email protected]. passport dc happy 4th of july! Although the new structure takes effect officially on July 1, the transition will take time. For most employees there will be no change in day-to-day activities. We will continue to work safely and responsibly to provide low-cost, high-quality products and services in our areas of responsibility. Over the next several months, we will be working to align our systems and processes to ensure consistent understanding and application of policies, reporting structures, communications and any other changes that need to be made as part of this new organization. The full transition is expected to take approximately 12 months and should be largely in place by the time that the final investment decision is reached for the Lake Charles Chemicals Project in the first half of 2014. Colleagues, Mekeba Gordon (US Mega Projects – Houston), Mandy Power (US Mega Projects – Houston) and Claudia Wagner (O&S Global Communications), represented Sasol North America at Passport DC Around the World Embassy Tour.
