Ruby Jubilee 40th Anniversary April 7 – 10, 2015
When I got the invitation to judge the regular dogs classes on the Ruby Jubilee I was so
honored with this invitation; it was the Icing on the cake being baked for a very long time.
Being a judge for almost 25 years, I have judged so many big specialties in many countries
all over the world, but being invited to judge Potomac is something really special.
For many years I have traveled every year to the Potomac specialty just to see the dogs and
meeting friends, always a highlight every year. So now being on the other side as a judge was
completely different, but thanks to my super ring steward everything went very smoothly.
Thank you so much Rebecca Richardson, you were wonderful. I would also like to thank
all committee members again, you made me feel so welcome and your hospitality was
outstanding. Thank you all for giving me this opportunity to judge.
I had a lovely entry and in some classes it was very difficult to find my best dogs because the
entry was filled with quality. I was happy to see correct heads on most dogs. I only saw a few
who were just a bit bit short on the leg. There were just a few dogs who were carrying too
much weight. There was enough there with more positive points to mention like the super
coats which you only see in the USA with the real otter tails which is so typical for our
breed. Also in movement, the American Labradors exceed and it was such a pleasure to see
them going around the ring.
Another very important thing for me are the characters on your dogs which I can say they are
true Labradors which I, unfortunately, don’t see in every country. So I can say well done to
you all you have done an outstanding job and I would like to thank you for entering your
dogs under me. You have given me such a hard time picking my winners, I will never forget
this experience. I know how lucky I am to have, some of your lines, at home in my kennel so
keep up the good work you are doing great.
I was very pleased with all my winners, my Winners Dog and Reserve Winners Dog were
still very young but had such quality from head to tail and I’m sure they will have a wonderful
future. My winners came from the Bred by yellow class "Epoch’s Jolly Folly" and reserve
winner dog from Puppy 9 & under 12 months black
dogs Zinfndel Lengley’s Big Papi both quality Labradors well-constructed and both in super
condition. Thank you all again for accepting my decisions in a very sportive manner
