Objectives: To develop a clear understanding of FDR’s New Deal and how America dealt with and emerged from the Great Depression. Goal: After finishing this lesson the student will be able to better understand and see how America reacted to the Great Depression, and understand and comprehend FDR’s New Deal programs and what they did for America, and how many are still in effect today. Outcome: Students will be able to list and briefly describe the New Deal programs Lesson Title: Unit 6: The Great Depression and New Deal Warm-‐Up: Students will answer DO NOW Questions 1. Why was the New Deal and then the second new deal issued? 2. Describe (2) things that Herbert Hoover did while in office? 3. How did the economic prosperity of the 1920’s contribute to the Great Depression? 4. Briefly describe the Dust Bowl and the geographic factor that influenced it. 5. Describe 4 causes of the Great Depression. 6. Briefly recall what (ccc) (FDIC) (AAA)(TVA)(SEC) are. 7. Relief, Recovery, and Reform Activities: Students will come in and complete questions from the board, by picking up a worksheet and then writing in the answers. Assessment/Reflection: Did students recall information? Were they able to recall the information from over the break? Did students engage in the lesson and interact in the discussion? Outcome: Students will be handed a Test to determine their knowledge of the subject. Lesson Title: Unit 6: The Great Depression and New Deal- TEST Warm-‐Up: Students will come in and turn in Review Unit 6 and sit quietly Activities: Test UNIT 6 (When Students finish the Test they are to pick up a “Background Worksheet for WWII” and complete it. Assessment/Reflection: Did students recall information? Were they prepared for all the questions? Did they turn in and complete their review sheets? Accommodations/Modifications: Students will be given a modified test.
