We sell mist nets and rings only to licensed bird ringers on production of a Safring licence,
or to customers with a permit from a provincial authority to catch bats, those associated
with an academic institution whose projects have been approved by its ethics committee,
or those who have authorisation from a recognised bat interest group.
How to order
Please note the codes of the items you want, then e-mail or phone us with your order and
arrange with us how you want your parcel shipped. We will send you a pro-forma invoice
with payment details. Your goods will be shipped when we receive confirmation of payment.
Products available by special shipment
Any item in the catalogue that we don't keep in stock can be supplied at short notice,
but the customer will have to bear the costs of shipping and clearing the overseas parcel.
Clients save considerably if special orders are shipped with our regular consignments.

Our perch scales are designed to weigh wild birds unattended in the field more precisely than conventional
scales. The perch scales also automatically compensate for wind and the bird’s shuffling on the perch.
They reset when a bird flies and can immediately weigh the next visitor. These scales allow researchers to
record weights in natural conditions over a season without any stress on the birds, opening possibilities
otherwise limited by repeatedly catching and weighing wild birds or by the presence of an observer. Scales
can be linked to one or more cameras that take an identifying photograph as each new weight is recorded
and logged, or with inputs such as weather and environmental data.

Ecotone makes some of the lightest GPS loggers available, weighing as little as 3,5g for a fully-featured
unit with battery. They transmit data and receive instructions by wireless, with radio and cellphone systems.

We insure and ship parcels by the fastest and most appropriate means we can find, so
charges vary depending on value, size and destination. Most small parcels weighing
less than 2kg and valued at less than R3 000 cost about R125 for courier fees and
insurance. We will quote standard shipping charges in every pro-forma invoice, but can
always make special arrangements to meet clients' needs.
