Volume 25 Issue 12 30 Carletondale Road, Ringwood, NJ 07456 From the Principal -- IT’S A TEAM! ALUMNI SHARE WITH STUDENTS . If school were a sport, we would be saying the season is coming to a close. It is June 4 and we are only 12 school days from graduation. You could say we are in the bottom of the ninth inning and the bases are loaded. The 2015-2016 school year has been a great experience. So much has been accomplished. Students have certainly grown academically, emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually. It has been a year in which we have “Focused on God” Our accomplishments have been possible because we have a great team. Thanks to the committed faculty and staff, much has been accomplished this year. Their commitment to Jesus Christ, combined with their professionalism, makes it all possible. Supported by a dedicated Board of Education who provide leadership and directions, the team is strengthened even more. Added to this strength, we have a fantastic group of parents joining in on the effort. How grateful I am to be able to be part of this team. Behind any winning team is an excellent coach. As a Christian school we are so blessed to have the leadership of Jesus Christ. Through His word and His standards, Ringwood Christian School has grown and will continue to grow. Thanks team! It has been a great season! June 4, 2016 We are blessed with some wonderful alumni who are living for the Lord in high school, college, the workforce and in full-time Christian ministry. As they return for a visit they bring us such encouragement and joy. We have no greater joy than to know that our children (alumni) walk with God. (III Jn. 4) Pastor Dan Rainville (‘03) Periodically, we have alumni stop in for a visit. They enjoy seeing what has changed and reconnecting with their teachers. This year we had three alumni share in chapel. Dan Rainville is youth pastor at Bethany Church in Wyckoff and Wanaque. Dan Popoloski is a college student and Jeff Gabrielle is working in Florida and serving as a youth leader. These three men each challenged the students to follow after God and His ways. What a great encouragement coming from three men who had sat in the same seats that our present students are sitting. What joy for us to see God using these men for His glory. Not all alumni speak in chapel. Some volunteer their time to help on their days off from school. We have enjoyed the help of Dan Popoloski (‘10) both Gabrielle and Chris Guerrero who have shared their time and talents helping with school projects. Others have helped us with school events. Rachel Ligus led our Garage Sale in September and did a fantastic job. Katie Raudenbush and Gabrielle Guerrero assisted with the recent Fish & Chips Dinner. This past summer Sydney Besemer, Cody Frank, Ricky Frank, Austin McQuade, Blake McQuade, Sam Moen, Cameron McQuade, Christian Rolando and Dan Jeff Gabrielle (‘05) White contributed significantly to the work being done around the building. Vanessa Donnamaria, Bobby Rolando and Chris Guerrero helped with the recent Art Festival. We appreciate the contributions that our alumni make to their school and we pray that they will Walk With God! Dan Thomas (Class of 1995) returned to catch up CHATTER 2 TO THE FUTURE TUESDAY Right - Cole’s love for math may help him be an accountant someday. Bottom Right - Addie is preparing to be a missionary someday. Below - Lola is cooking up a storm. Maybe she will turn out to be the RCS chef. M AD HAIR & MUSTACHE MONDAY WACKY WEDNESDAY All the clashing outfits were definitely wacky!! LOTS OF FUN The Class of 2016 brought us a fun-filled week of School Spirit. Everyday the students and teachers entered the building with a new theme and it was great to see the high level of participation and the fun that it brought. Twin & Triplet Thursday turned into Undecaplets Thursday for the 8th graders! CHATTER 3 SNEAKER ISLAND What could be more fun than creating your own island? Each year the first graders learn about maps and landforms. As a fun culminating activity to this unit, the students get to create their own island. They need to incorporate some of the landforms they’ve learned about, have a map key, a compass rose, and they need to name their newly “discovered” island. Their parents are invited in for a special presentation of the islands as well. Each year brings so much fun and learning and this year was no exception. One Grace used the interactive student named her island Pegasus Unicorn whiteboard to share a little Island, and only princes and princesses were about her island. allowed to be there. Another student named his island Speed Island because everyone there is really fast. It’s a fantastic opportunity for these young students to incorporate their beautiful imaginations into an otherwise more concrete assignment. It was a wonderful time together! PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH Sixth grade celebrated the completion of their reading of "Phantom Tollbooth" by dressing up as various characters of the novel. Faythe was Reason, Ella was Rhyme, Ryan was the Mathemagician, Joey was King Azaz, Maria was Officer Shrift, Katelyn was Tock, Juliana was the Humbug, and Miss Kachler was Chroma. The class was also able to watch the 1970’s version of the film which proved to be humorous and entertaining. Students enjoyed tasty treats, such as math Rice Krispies shaped as math symbols, and "half baked ideas" in the form of banana bread and cookies. Norton Juster's delightful tale showed these sixth graders the importance of knowledge and the countless opportunities each of us has to learn and explore.
