30 ENTERTAINMENT WEDNESDAY JULY 8 2015 Hollywood mourns one of its favourites Tatum says XXL end of road for Magic Mike DANIELLE MCGRANE SYDNEY: Channing Tatum says Magic Mike XXL will probably be the last in the film franchise, admitting he has plumbed the depths of his previous life as a stripper as far as he could for the second film. Tatum was in Sydney on Monday night with co-star Joe Manganiello for the Australian premiere of the film, which follows male stripping group Kings of Tampa as they go back on the road for one last show. The stars were happy to pose for selfies with fans, many of whom had waited overnight for a chance to meet them on the red carpet on a cold night, but it seems it may be their last chance to catch the Magic Mike roadshow. “We scraped the creative bottom of the barrel on this one,” Tatum said on the red carpet. “There’s nothing else to tell out of my personal experiences. If someone else wants to, I’ll do anything, if they really want to.” But the actor enjoyed making the sequel to his 2012 hit movie. “This is one of those movies that you don’t have to mask the good time that you’re actually having,” he said. “The first movie is about a guy who basically was just living inside the party until he realises he wants more out of life and he leaves it completely behind. LOS ANGELES: Hollywood producer Jerry Weintraub, who made the Ocean’s Eleven movies and managed artists including Frank Sinatra, has died aged 77. George Clooney and former US president George HW Bush were among the first to mourn Weintraub, whose credits also included Diner, The Karate Kid and 1998’s The Avengers. “In the coming days there will be tributes ... We’ll laugh at his great stories, and applaud his accomplishments,” Clooney said in a statement. “And in the years to come, the stories and accomplishments will get better with age, just as Jerry would have wanted it. But not today. Today our friend died.” Weintraub originally “And then this one is finding the party again and realising you don’t have to walk away from it to be responsible. It’s just a lot of fun for me to hang out with these guys again and get to do it all over.” While Tatum plays a male stripper in the film, he admitted he still feels self-conscious about some of the film’s promo material that features the actor topless. “I’m self-conscious looking at that poster right there,” he said, pointing to his topless photo. “Did you ever have that dream where you get butt naked but nobody else is butt naked? (I’m) insecure taking my clothes off in front of one person, let alone a thousand,” he said. Manganiello said he was happy to be in Sydney. “I know this city pretty well. I’ve been here a few times – one of my favourite cities in the world and I’m not kidding about that. I love Sydney,” he said. But he said he was “definitely” missing his fiancee, actress Sofia Vergara, who loves the film. “She’s seen the movie a few times and she was surprised by how funny it was. I think that was the thing that shocked her,” he said. *Magic Mike XXL opens in Australia this week. worked as a talent manager, representing stars such as Sinatra, Neil Diamond and John Denver. He had a passion for life,” Bush said. “Throughout the ups and downs of his prolific career it was clear just how much he loved show business.” Vegan Anderson turns up sex appeal in kitchen LOS ANGELES: Actress and animal rights activist Pamela Anderson has launched her own vegan culinary show online as she prepares to publish her first cookbook.
