Mission: The VABA Mission is to build character and shape lives through the game of basketball.
Organized and run by the Virginia Basketball Academy this league (VDBL) is set on VABA’s two main goals: SKILL & CHARACTER
DEVELOPMENT. The VDBL is designed to help young basketball players have fun learning the game of basketball in a team setting,
and prepare them for the relevant possibility of playing high school basketball. As a program of VABA, a recognized 501c3/nonprofit organization, the VDBL maintains the same mission and purpose, aiming to serve the extended Charlottesville-Albemarle
community by funding scholarships for all interested participants.
League Structure: The VDBL-Girls is is a “developmental” league designed to help young athletes learn about the game in a
team setting, develop fundamental skills, and build friendships with teammates in a fun, but challenging environment.
VDBL-Girls (two divisions): 5 - 6th, 7 - 8th

will eventually be attending). Ladies may sign up as individuals and be placed on a team, or they may organize their own team
with a coach and come as a pre-formed group. Teams that do not have 10 players will be filled by individual registrants.

Charlottesville HS, CCS, Covenant School, Fluvanna County HS, Louisa County HS, Monticello HS, Nelson County HS, STAB, Tandem,
Western Albemarle HS, William Monroe HS and all area private schools.

COACH CROCKER
“I am excited to take the lead with
VABA’s Girls Program. To take on a
larger role within an organization that
focuses on building the young person as
a whole is an honor. It is a privilege to
follow in the footsteps and continue to
work alongside Coach Proudfoot who
has done such a tremendous job
developing the VABA Girls Program.”
COACH PROUDFOOT
“VABA offers the same
vision I have as a coach:
coaching young people to
be the best they can be in a
competitive environment,
while offering them the
correct tools to learn the
game the right way. I’m
excited to be a part of such a
great organization!”
