SERIES 7™
The Series 7™ designed by Arne Jacobsen is by far the most sold
chair in the history of Fritz Hansen and perhaps also in furniture history.
The pressure moulded veneer chair is a further development of the
classic Ant™ chair. The four-legged stackable chair represents the
culmination of the lamination technique. The visionary Arne Jacobsen
exploited the possibilities of lamination to perfection resulting in the
iconic shape of the chair. Series 7™ represents the chair in the Fritz
Hansen collection with the widest range of applications.
ARNE JACOBSEN 1902-1971
The cooperation between Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen dates back to
1934. But it was in 1952 the break-through came with the Ant™. It was
succeeded by the Series 7™ in 1955. This propelled his and Fritz Hansen’s
names into furniture history.
Arne Jacobsen was very productive both as an architect and as a designer.
At the end of the 50’s Arne Jacobsen designed the SAS Royal Hotel in
Copenhagen and for that project also the Egg™, the Swan™, the Swan Sofa™
and Series 3300™.
Arne Jacobsen was and is an admired and outstanding designer. While the
significance of Arne Jacobsen’s buildings was less appreciated, his furniture
and other design work have become national and international heritage.
DESIGN

In case of repair and disposal the chair can be disassembled into two parts (shell
and base). The base and all other metal parts can be recycled. Check local
regulations for recycling in your area and whether there is potential for reuse.
DESCRIPTION
Series of laminated veneer chairs designed by Arne Jacobsen,
manufactured by Fritz Hansen.
Un-upholstered chairs are coated with polyurethane lacquer, which prevents
the emission of formaldehyde.
The shell is made in pressure molded veneer. The inner veneer is always
beech and the outer veneer is available in 9 different veneers: Maple,
Beech, Ash, Elm, Oak, Oregon Pine, Cherry, Walnut or Dark Stained Oak.
The children’s chair (3177) is only available in Beech or Walnut.
The Series 7™ is tested according to EN 1728, EN 13761 and BS 4875 for
strength and durability and EN 1022, ISO 7174-1 and BS 7945 for stability.
The chair is also available in two finishes: Coloured ash (lazur) or Lacquered,
in 12 different colours: White, Black, Nine Grey, Egyptian Yellow, Chevalier
Orange, Opium Red, Ai Blue, Hüzün Green, Evren Purple, Chocolate Milk
Brown, Altstadt Rose and Trieste Blue. The children’s chair (3177) is only
available in coloured ash.
Standard goods have warranty for five years against manufacturing defects
(i.e. materials and design). The warranty does not cover leather and
fabrics ordered as customers own or special material as well as products
manufactured according to customer specifications. Normal wear and tear
and damage of covers are not covered by the warranty. The warranty for
wicker and lamps is 2 years.
All models (except for 3177) are also available with front or full upholstery
in fabric or leather.
The base for 3107, 3207, 3177, 3187 and 3197 is 14 mm chromed
steel tubes with 4 legs and leg ferrules of black synthetic material. The
swivel base for 3117 and 3217 is 14 mm chromed steel tubes and 5
hard-wheel castors with aluminium caps (soft wheels also available).
The range of accessories includes short and long linking devices, writing
tablet (only 3107), transport dolly, large seat cover for improved stackability
on upholstered chairs, felt glides and an upholstered seat cushion in a
limited range of fabrics and leathers.

EXTENDED LIMITED WARRANTY
Fritz Hansen offers an extended limited warranty if you register your
Series 7™ chair online at fritzhansen.com/MY-REPUBLIC.
Registration with the product ID number must be made within three (3)
months from the date of purchase, otherwise the extended limited warranty
will not apply.
Years of warranty:
5 years covers: Fabric, Height-adjustable, Swivel, Castors,
Leather: Basic, Soft.
10 years covers: Base, Shell, Armsrest, Lacquer, Coloured ash, Natural
veneer, Leather: Classic, Rustic, Natural, White, Optical white, Elegance,
Sense, Welt.
UPHOLSTERY
The upholstery is available in a selection of fabrics and leathers. Fabrics:
Canvas, Hallingdal, Divina, Divina MD, Divina Melange, Tonus, Milani (only
full upholstery), Remix and Comfort. Leathers: Basic, Soft, Classic, Rustic (only full
upholstery), Natural, White, Optical white, Elegance Sense and Welted leather.
The seat cushion is available in the fabric Divina Melange (only the colours
120 and 180) as well as the leather types Classic (only black) and
Elegance (only walnut).
