PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Curriculum Day Please note that the Curriculum Day marked on the Term Two Calendar sent home recently was incorrect. The Curriculum Day is on Friday June 2nd. Sorry for any confusion. FARM EXCURSION Pupil Free day: Friday 2nd June OPEN: 8am- 6pm (10 hour session) Friday 2nd June 2017 Pupil free day LOCATION: Red brick school building (McIvor Hwy side of school grounds) EXCURSION: To the THREE FARMERS farm (offsite 9:30-3pm) Axedale-Goornong Road TRANSPORT: Bus Charter WHAT TO BRING: Packed food, water bottle. Warm clothes, raincoat and gumboots PRICE: *$22.04-$39.00 ‘out of pocket’ after rebates for the 10hr session HOW TO BOOK: www.onechildhood.com.au or call Claire 0487 325 512 We are using the pupil free day to get out and about in our local community. The Harrington family have generously offered us an opportunity to come and visit their mixed farm in action. We will be visiting during their lambing season, but they will also show us other aspects of the business. Really get to understand exactly what paddock to plate means, what daily farm life may look like and how important our local farmers are to our health and future. Farmer Tim, Farmer Liz and Farmer Emme (www.threefarmers.com.au) have large machinery, silos full of grain, shearing sheds, beautiful stone buildings, cattle, sheep, a working dog Jim and an amazing river that runs through the property. We plan to start our morning near the farm house after a tour from Farmer Emme. We will then stroll down to the river where the water is shallow and we can see in the river bed as the water trickles over the pebbles. We will have nature activities planned around a crackling campfire while we take in our scenic location. This is an amazing opportunity to get back to basics and enjoy the natural world. Reconnecting to reality and creating lasting memories during the wondrous time of childhood. *cost after CCB/CCR. Full price before rebates is $7.80 per hour x 10hrs HERITAGE PHOTO COMPETITION Yesterday the two Gr. 1/2 grades went on an excursion around Axedale. They took many photos of a range of heritage buildings and items to enter into the Heritage Through the Lens competition. Photos were taken at the churches, the bluestone bridge, the river, the Tavern and many small items that were spotted by keen eyes and deemed to be ‘old’.
