Location: Job Function: Employment Contract Type: Division/Function: Business unit: Publication ID: TBD, Global; Łódź, Poland; Bad Honnef, Germany; Monselice, Italy; Raleigh, USA Research and Development Regular/Permanent, Full-Time Power Grids Business Unit Transformers HQ60341888_E5 Tasks Provide expertise on main technical and manufacturing challenges in e-steel development, testing and quality control - Prepare and/or supervise all the technical documents and internal production/quality standards related to e-steel, and unify them within the full transformers range. - Propose innovative ideas for future projects, in cooperation with ABB’s broader R&D organization - Represent ABB in relevant international technical committees for this topic and act as technical authority on e-steel within our global Transformer business - Contribute to the definition of a roadmap for e-steel as well as R&D collaborations with e-steel manufacturers - Provide technical support to our worldwide transformer factories regarding technical and quality matters with e-steel; support suppliers’ audits together with the BU Quality function 1 Technical Expert for Electrical Steel - Ensure that internal developments are properly protected from an Intellectual property standpoint. Requirements - Advanced degree in materials engineering, ideally Ph.D.in metallurgy - 3+ years’ experience working in the engineering or R&D department of an e-steel or transformer core manufacturer - Structured approach to problem solving paired with a highly proactive and result-driven attitude - Strong communication, presentation and networking skills - Fluency in English, both written and spoken - Availability to travel internationally as required Additional Information Interested in joining our team in this role?
