Fourth Grade Summer Reading Assignment:
Choose any two books from the list attached. Students must complete Assignment 1 for one of
the books. They may also choose one of the activities from Assignment 2 for the second book.
Both are due the first day of school.
Assignment 1:
Students must complete one Formal Book Report. Please see the attached form
for the Formal Book Report and Fill it out.
Assignment 2:
Students must choose one Fun Book Activity to complete.
a. Option One: 2 Liter Soda Bottle Person
For your next book report, you will be creating a character using a 2
liter bottle. You are to decorate the bottle like the character. Write your
character's name. Then write a short paragraph describing the
character. (Appearances, feelings, actions) Also pick a favorite quote from
your character.
b. Option Two: Shoe Box Scene
Create a shoe box scene from one of the books you read. Your scene should include
enough detail to really understand the setting and the action taking place in the scene. Hint: The
climax would be a great scene to create. However, it can be any scene. Then, write a paragraph
explaining what is happening in the scene. Please write the title and author's name on the
outside of the box. You may use any materials necessary to complete this project. Please use the
checklist below to help guide you on what is expected for option "b".
