Safety procedure – Table Saw
Table Saw – A circular saw that is mounted under a table for straight and angled cuts.

No Loose fitting clothing
Nothing around the neck

Vocabulary
Fence – Holds the board the same distance from the blade
Push Stick – Pushes the board into the blade when it is unsafe for your hand.
Miter gauge - A Miter gauge is used for cutting angles in wood. It can also be used for pushing
the wood into the blade.
Wood Requirements
A Table saw can cut plywood and other types of wood UPTO 4’ thick.
ONLY cut pressure treated wood with the teacher’s permission.

Make sure the wood to be cut is NOT pressure treated.
Set the fence to the desired measurement.
If your cut is less than 6”, then you need to ask for the instructors helps
Decide if you need a push stick or a miter gauge.
Turn on Dust Collection System and open the slide.
Make sure all safety guards are in place.
Turn on the saw and wait 5 seconds for warm up. Check for the GREEN light.
Position your hands to be on each side of the blade at least 6” from either side of the blade.
Push the wood STRAIGHT and at a consistent speed into the wood.
Push wood until it clears the blade a safety guards.
Turn off the saw.
