Language Arts Vocabulary:
1. Docks are platforms built on the shore or out from the shore. 2. A scent is a smell, often a pleasant one. 3.Yearned is the past
tense for yearn. Yearned means felt a longing or desire. 4. A wharf is a platform built on the shore or out from the shore beside
which ships can load and unload. 5. To scan is to glance at or look over hastily. 6. Migrating means going from one region to
another with the change in the seasons.

Too Cool For Drugs… Fun Run Day!
Students that have paid at least $5 will
be able to participate in the Fun Run.
Students participating in the run may
wear appropriate length athletic shorts
or pants. Students may also wear a
Halloween themed (appropriate) shirt or
any Pearl shirt with uniform pants.

Science vocabulary –CH 2
Stoma-a single pore on the outside of
leaves
Stomata-pores in leaves that open and
close, letting in air and giving off water
vapor
Food chain-the path that energy takes
from one organism to another in the
form of food.
Photosynthesis-the process in green
plants and certain other organism use
sunlight to make food from water and
carbon dioxide
Epidermis-the thin covering of leaves
Respiration-the release of energy
from food
Veins-small tubes that carry water to
and from the root to stems of plants
Transpiration- the release of water
vapor through the stomata of a plant
Producers –plants are called this
because they produce food
Consumers-organisms that eat other
organisms
