Colonel Keith M. Logeman is currently the Assistant Commandant,
Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and the
Commander, 517th Training Group, Presidio of Monterey, California. In
this capacity, Col.
Logeman directs language training for 34,000
Department of Defense personnel annually in 89 languages at 29 sites
worldwide. He also oversees 1,800 faculty members and 250 joint-service
staff providing language training, proficiency testing, and curriculum to
train successful warrior-linguists. As the 517th Training Group
Commander, Col. Logeman leads two Air Force squadrons composed of
1,200 Airmen, the majority of whom are Air Force Cryptologic Linguist
trainees.
Col. Logeman entered the Air Force as a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and was
commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1992. A career intelligence officer, he has served
and deployed in joint and Air Force organizations, including commanding the 17th Training Support Squadron
at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. Col. Logeman has operational experience in air, space, cyberspace,
special operations, command and control, and training missions. He is a fully qualified Joint Specialty Officer
and has served in staff positions at 24th Air Force, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD)
and U.S. Northern Command, the Air Force Personnel Center, and Air Force Special Operations Command.
Col. Logeman has led and served with linguists and cryptologic language analysts throughout his 23-year
career. During his six years in the Air Force and Joint Special Operations Commands, Col. Logeman led allsource Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) analysts and Direct Support Operators in
missions that included OPERATION JOINT FORGE, support to operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Also of
note, Col. Logeman worked directly with language analysts from the 611th Air Intelligence Squadron while
conducting aerospace warning and control missions as a NORAD Intelligence Watch Director. Lastly, Col.
Logeman worked side-by-side with Spanish linguists during his Air War College Regional Studies in Central
and South America, using that cultural and language advantage to effectively engage with partner nations’
military and civic leaders.
