Life Membership
Introduction
The award of Honorary Life Membership is the highest honour the Strathdale Hockey Club can bestow on
an individual and is done so in recognition of a member who has made an extraordinary contribution to
the Strathdale Hockey Club over a number of years that is above and beyond what is expected of any
member.
Policy
The Strathdale Hockey Club may bestow Life Membership on an individual who demonstrates constant
commitment to the club’s purpose and values. The Life Member will have given an extraordinary
contribution in areas of club involvement such as a player, coach, administrator, volunteer or in other
positions.
There shall be a maximum of one Honorary Life Member awarded by the club in any given financial year
of the club.

Honorary Life Member Committee
The Honorary Life Member Committee shall be convened at the discretion of a majority of the Club
Committee of Management.
The Honorary Life Membership Committee shall:
Preside over a nomination for Honorary Life Membership of the Strathdale Hockey Club and make
recommendations
Review and update the Honorary Life Membership Policy document
Ensure that all recommendations for Honorary Life Membership to the Strathdale Hockey Club
are recorded
The Honorary Life Member Sub-Committee shall be five (5) current Strathdale Hockey Club Members
consisting of;
At least two (2) Strathdale Hockey Club Honorary Life Members
At least one (1) Strathdale Hockey Club Committee of Management member and if required
Appointed members
The Sub-Committee shall appoint their own Chairperson

Procedure
The following procedure is to be followed in the determination of Honorary Life Membership.
1. The nomination to award any person with Honorary Life Membership shall be in written form.
The nomination2 is to be submitted to the Club Secretary and/or President and shall be signed by
two current financial members. The nomination will be accepted by either electronic or postal
mail.
2. Within seven (7) days of receiving a nomination for Honorary Life Membership, the Committee of
Management shall convene the Honorary Life Membership committee to investigate the suitability
of bestowing Honorary Life Membership to the nominee(s).
3. The Honorary Life Membership committee shall consult with others to confirm the validity of the
nomination.
4. Prior to the determination, the Honorary Life Membership committee shall consider;
The merit of the nomination against the Club’s “Statement of Purposes” and the
Honorary Life Membership policy
The guidelines for nominations
Comparison of the contributions of existing Honorary Life Membership and
Any other relevant contributions and information
The Honorary Life Membership committee shall be given no less than 30 days, but not more than 60
days to make their recommendation.
5. The Honorary Life Membership committee Chairperson shall notify the club Committee of
Management of the outcome. The Strathdale Committee of Management shall be responsible for
the ratification of the recommendations for Honorary Life Membership by secret ballot.
6. The Strathdale Hockey Club Committee of Management will be responsible for notifying the
persons making a successful nomination and for arranging the appropriate award and
presentation agenda. Where possible, the name of the recipient of Honorary Life Membership
shall be kept confidential.
7. The presentation of Honorary Life Membership shall be made at an Annual General Meeting, a
Special General Meeting or at the next significant and sanctioned club event. The presentation
shall be made by a current Honorary Life Member and shall be in the form of a Strathdale Hockey
Club membership pin signifying the wearer as a Life Member and a Strathdale Hockey Club
Certificate acknowledging the Life Membership. A photo of the presentation shall be made for
club records.
8. In the event of a nomination not being recommended for Honorary Life Membership, the two
members making the nomination are to be advised of the outcome by a member of the club
Committee of Management.

Guidelines for Nominations
It is expected that the recipient has made a extraordinary contribution to the club in some or all of the
following areas to an accumulated total of 15 points.
