Animal Care Technician

Exhibits Manager
FUNCTION:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the
feeding and care of the museum’s living collection. The
collection includes but is not limited to insects, tarantulas,
scorpions, crustaceans and fish. The person in this position will
distribute the appropriate food and water to each animal
according to a delineated schedule. The Animal Care
Technician will also occasionally perform water changes (with
appropriate chemicals) and cleaning of the museum’s brackish
fish tanks, as well as other related duties as assigned.
HOURS:
Two times per week (Sunday availability preferred)
RESPONSIBILITIES
o Check each animal to ensure that it has fresh food and water
o Consult care charts and replenish food and water as needed according to the
designated amount
o Occasionally clean and prepare animal habitats/fish tanks
o Troubleshoot any issues with the habitats and fish tanks (including filters)
and resolve any issues
o Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
 Degree in biology, life science and/or related field, and/or equivalent
experience
 Knowledge about fish tank care
 Love of animals and devotion to good animal husbandry
