Dieting may put your unborn child's health at risk
Women who conceive while dieting put
their child at risk of obesity or diabetes in later life, UK scientists suggested.
INSIDE
and glucose levels, the researchers found.
Professor Anne White, who led the study,
said the team's findings suggested that
dieting around the time a
baby is conceived may increase the chance of the
child becoming obese later
in life.
Genetic change
"This is not an inherited
change in the genes but a
change in the structure of
the DNA that affects the
genes, and therefore much
more unusual," White said.
"What is significant is that
the changes we have found
are in genes that control
food intake and glucose
levels and alterations in
these genes may lead to
obesity and diabetes."

Researchers from the University of Manchester in northern England came to the
conclusion after studying sheep -- and said
the results could also apply to humans.
Ewes that received less food around the
time they became pregnant produced
lambs with an altered DNA structure in the
region of the brain related to food intake
The team believes that although the study was conducted on sheep, the findings are also relevant to
humans as they reveal a
non-genetic or "epigenetic"
way in which the DNA of
offspring can be altered -and could be important for
disease prevention regimes.
White added, "Our study is important because it shows that factors in the brain can
be altered by non-hereditary mechanisms
and this results in changes in the body,
which could make people obese."

Hello everyone.
Since our last
edition, we’ve
been busy talking to the supermarkets and
researching
other ways to
find out which
foods they sell
contain GM ingredients, so
that we can get
our list out to
you as soon as
possible.
...If you buy a
chicken that
has been fed
on GM soya,
the producer is
not legally
obliged to
mention this
fact on the
label ...
Unfortunately,
while the supermarkets have been
somewhat helpful, from
their responses to us it
appears that they don’t
know themselves which
products they stock
contain GM ingredients,
beyond their own-brand
ranges which, they insist, are clear of GMs.
They are relying on
saying that the customer should look at
the label.
But there is also a secondary factor. If you
buy a chicken that has
been fed on GM soya,
the producer is not legally obliged to mention
this fact on the label.
Morrison’s has recently
announced that it is
now lifting its ban on
GM-animal feed, and
will now be selling
chickens reared on genetically modified soya,
which, they say, is
much cheaper because
the feed costs less.
Probably the other major supermarkets will be

If they do this, they will
be ignoring the results
of a 2011 opinion survey commissioned by

that 70 per cent of respondents considered
non-GM animal feed to
be important.
In the meantime,

showing
that 88 per

shoppers

on food
from animals fed

72 percent are willing
to pay more to get it.
The point is, if all our
supermarkets decide to
go down a certain
route, and act in concert, there’s not much
we can do to prevent
that.
But what we can do is
protect ourselves and
our families and friends,
by making sure that
they get the information they need to avoid
food that contains GM
ingredients.
To that end, we’re going back to the drawing
board. We will be researching through all
the processed food
products on the websites of the major supermarkets to see
which ones contain GM

Before anyone jumps
on the latest mainstream media bandwagon and begins
taking daily aspirin to
prevent cancer, there
are several strong
reasons to hesitate.
To begin with, the
study which produced the media
storm was flawed
and the claimed
benefits are highly
questionable.
The new aspirin study
was conducted by Professor Peter Rothwell at
the Stroke Prevention
Research Unit at Oxford
University. According to
the study, taking an
aspirin a day could reduce your risk of cancer
within three years after
beginning the therapy.
Only two years earlier,
Professor Rothwell published a previous study
which suggested that
protective benefits
would be seen only after 10 years of daily
aspirin use.
The new findings are
actually just a reanalysis of about 90
previously published
studies. For unexplained
reasons, the new analysis failed to look at several major US trials
which failed to find any
protective benefit from
aspirin. Also, the average dose of aspirin in
the studies which were
examined was far above
the recommended
"safe" dose of 75 mg.
The catch is
that there really is no
safe dose of aspirin
Professor Rothwell appears to have come full
circle regarding aspirin.
In 2007 he published a
study which found that
aspirin was a major
cause of stroke in the
elderly and had caused
a sevenfold increase in
strokes over the past
twenty five years
among elderly patients.
At the time, he warned
that aspirin could soon
replace high blood pressure as the leading
cause of stroke among
the elderly.
Here are just a few
indications of how
harmful aspirin can be:
Notably, Professor Peter
Rothwell has received
honoraria for serving on
Aspirin (acetylsalicylic
acid) is a synthesized
version of a compound
originally discovered in
willow bark. One of the
more common dangerous side effects of the
regular use of aspirin is
intestinal bleeding.
Other side effects include ulcers, kidney
dysfunction, and
stroke.
* Researchers from
Virginia Medical
School, who examined
medical records of hospital deaths, estimated
that the drug is killing
around 20,000 in the
US alone.
* Randomized clinical
trials testing aspirin in
5011 elderly people
showed that use of aspirin caused a 4-fold
increase in hemorrhagic stroke and a 1.6
- to 1.8-fold increase in
ischemic stroke.
* As noted in the 1999
Associated Press article
titled "The Silent Epidemic", death by analgesics (over the counter
pain killers such as aspirin and other NSAIDs)
is the 15th most common cause of death in
America.
* The American Journal
of Medicine reported
that conservative calculations estimate that
approximately 107,000
patients are hospitalized annually for NSAID
-related gastrointestinal
complications and at
least 16,500 NSAIDrelated deaths occur
each year among arthritis patients alone
* Each year 1600 children with Reye's syndrome and other allergies die from taking
aspirin.
* Rather than being a
nutrient, aspirin is an
anti-nutrient. It depletes the body of lifesaving nutrient folic
acid as well as iron,
potassium, sodium, and
vitamin C.
Symptoms of folic acid
depletion include anemia, birth defects, elevated homocysteine
(itself a significant heart
disease risk factor),
fatigue, headache, insomnia, diarrhea, increased infection and
hair loss.
When it comes to preventing cancer, strokes,
heart attacks and other
illness, by far the best
and healthiest plan is to
eat a healthy diet and
lead an active and
healthy lifestyle.

HERBAL REMEDIES
Homemade remedies consisting of herbal recipes are
often highly effective at
providing allergy relief for
hay fever sufferers.
Chamomile tea is reputed
to relieve hay fever symptoms. Some herbalists suggest smearing chamomile
and lemon oil on a tissue
and inhaling to prevent hay
fever symptoms.
Ginger tea and raw honey

one of the best homemade
remedies for building the immune system.
Peppermint tea relieves nasal
and sinus congestion. Drink it
cold to sooth coughing associated with hay fever and allergies.
Butterbur reduces inflammation, blocking histamines and
leukotrienes. Studies suggest
the herb is effective for relieving
sneezing, itchy eyes, sinus congestion and headaches. People
allergic to ragweed or chrysanthemum should avoid butterbur.
HOMEMADE REMEDIES
Old time, folk remedies are tried
and true, providing relief from
sneezing, congestion and itching
from hay fever.
Steaming produces excellent
results to break up congestion.
Add a few drops of eucalyptus
oil to a bowl of hot water and
carefully inhale the steam. Avoid
eucalyptus if you are taking ho-
meopathic remedies as it voids
their action.
Grapefruit and lemon boiled in
one cup of water for 15 minutes
makes an excellent home remedy for hay fever. Use only the
fruit, not the rind. Cool and mix
with raw honey to relieve symptoms.
Calendula liquid diluted in water makes an excellent eye wash
to soothe itchy eyes. Use nonalcoholic calendula. Add a dropper full of colloidal silver to enhance the anti-microbial action
and reduce inflammation.
HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES
Numerous homeopathic medicines make excellent homemade
remedies for hay fever symptoms.
Arundo People needing Arundo
often experience burning and
itching of the palate, nose and
the eyes. There may be sneezing, runny nose and loss of
smell.
Wyethia Similar to Arundo, with
intolerable itching on the roof of
the mouth and back of the nose
into the frontal sinuses and throat
indicate the need for Wyethia.
Arum Triphyllum - This remedy
may relieve burning nasal discharge that creates raw sores on
the skin. There may be pain at
the root of the nose and the individual must breathe through the
mouth due to congestion. Scabs
may form high up in the nostrils,
and skin of nose and lips is dry
and chapped.
Sabadilla - One of the best home
remedies for constant sneezing
accompanied by nasal discharge
and itching in the nose indicate a
need for Sabadilla. There may be
watery eyes and a lump in the
throat indicating the need for this
remedy.

GMOs ~ The New Thalidomide
This new information
going into our bodies
from the RNA of another species not naturally connected with
that food is containing
instructions which will
change us to such an
extent that we will become no longer human .. or what we consider to be human.
Monsanto are
brazenly cavalier
about their lack
of testing. They
insist that it’s not
necessary to test
GM foods.That’s
why very little
scientific
information
exists about the
risk of GM food to
human health.
Monsanto’s reluctance to test their GM
products is on par
with that of the German pharmaceutical
company Grünenthal
who didn’t bother to
test thalidomide sufficiently in the 1950s.
The shocking result
was multiple birth
defects and deformities in more than
10,000 babies in 46
countries whose
mothers, when pregnant, had taken the
drug for morning
sickness.
The reason given for
such a widespread epidemic of deformities in
the babies was ‘lack of
testing’ and this is exactly the position we’re
in today with genetically-modified foods.
There has been little to
no adequate testing on
whether GM foods are

ties are beginning to
occur in countries which
are heavily dependent
on GM crops.
In fact, Monsanto are
brazenly cavalier about
their lack of testing.
They insist that it’s not
necessary to test GM
foods.That’s why very
little scientific information exists about the
risk of GM food to human health.
However, what does
exist is damning,
alarming and shocking.
A major report by Dr.
Arpad Pusztai, explains
how GM foods could
trigger new allergies
and contain toxins that
may be harmful. And
another by Lin Zhang et
al shows how the micro
-RNA spliced into genetically modified foods
is changing our organs.
In other words, RNA
and DNA carry information which ‘talks to’ our
cells and our organs.
In the 1950s, scientists
didn’t believe that any
drug taken by a pregnant woman could pass
across the placental
barrier and harm the
developing fetus. They
were wrong and 10,000
-plus babies were born
deformed, without
limbs, because of that
mistake. Scientists today don’t believe that
we are what we eat.
They are wrong and the
harm to the reproductive processes of humans is already being
noted by those in a position to see it.
The award-winning
midwife known as
“Mother Robin” is seeing a huge increase in
umbilical cord deformities that she believes
may be caused by the
prevalence of GM soya
in Bali. She put two and
two together after reading a study about genetically modified corn
that showed that when
fed to pregnant mice,
all the offspring had
alterations to their cells
and to their organs.
“Can you see why I am
worried about our precious placentas? I did
not make this connection until I began to see
an increase in abnor-

malities and pathology due to
placenta and cord troubles. The
fact that so many Indonesian
women depend upon genetically
modified soy products (tempe
and tofu) for their day-to-day
protein — and the early introduction of GMO soy here…”
Reproductive health has declined over the last several dec-
and disabilities.
You could say that this is just coincidence … that it is nothing to do
with GMs, and that it could be put
down to other factors. However,
numerous scientific studies link
GMOs to infertility in animals. As
Dr. Gregory Damato writes in NaturalNews.
“Scientists in Austria recently conducted the first ever long-term
than the control group on the
third and fourth generation. Furthermore, pups whose parents
were fed GM-feed weighed less at
birth and at weaning and experienced significantly higher mortality rates than those fed non-GM
corn.
“Lead author of the study Professor Zentek reported that there
was a direct link between the decrease in fertility and the GM diet
and mice fed non-GM corn reproduced more efficiently.”
There is, in fact, a deliberate and
deceitful sleight of hand going on
here by Monsanto and by the US
vested interests who are relying
on high-tech agriculture to buoy
up the US economy. The reason
given for the less than adequate
testing of GM foods is that they
are food and not medicine. That’s
why the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) separate out the two
in their title ~ out of a determined denial that food is food and
has no intrinsic health benefits
other than to provide energy.
ades in the United States,
where more than four-fifths of
the soybean, corn and cotton
acreage was under genetically
engineered crops last year, according to a 2010 National
Academies of Sciences study.
The above chart shows that in
the US, over the past few decades…
Reported infertility and impaired fertility are up among
both men and women, regardless of age.
There are more premature
births and more infants with low
birth weight.
There are more birth defects
multi-generational feeding study of
Monsanto’s genetically modified
(GM) corn (NK 603 x MON 810) in
mice. The study consisted of two
groups: an experimental group,
which was fed a 33% GM corn
(maize) feed, and a control group,
which was fed an equivalent nonGM corn feed.
“The mice were allowed to live a
natural life and were monitored for
four generations. Scientists recorded organ weight, gene expression, body mass, metabolism, life
span and number of offspring of
both groups of mice. The scientists
found that mice fed GM corn had
significantly fewer pups per litter
Obviously, this is utter nonsense
and there are thousands of bone
fide scientific studies which show
how certain vitamins build bones
and others are good for the skin.
A simple example would be vitamin B (or thiamine). We know
what happens when people don’t
have enough of vitamin B ~ they
are liable to develop beri-beri, the
characteristics of which is a distended belly and very weak limbs.
Instead, the GM lobby try to hide
behind patently untrue myths:
“We’re not doing anything different to what selective plant breeders have been doing for thousands of years,” they say. This is
untrue. Selective plant breeders
cross-breed within the SAME SPECIES. Genetic modifers crossbred between DIFFERENT SPECIES.
L. LaReesa Wolfenbarger, a professor of biology at the University

of Nebraska who was on
the National Academies
study team, finds a distinct difference between
old-fashioned breeding
and genetic modification.
She says:
“What is happening recently is that we are
mixing genes of plants
and animals that in normal evolution or nature
don’t mix.”
Or as Margaret Mellon,
director of the Food and
Environment Program at
the Union of Concerned
Scientists, puts it: ‘You
can’t breed a cow with a
starfish.’
Monsanto would though.
Another myth is:
“Well, how else are going
to feed the everexpanding world population which is well on its
way to 9 billion.”
Again, not true. World
population figures are
flat-lining and in Europe,
numbers are on the
downward slope. Even by
the World Health Organisation’s conservative estimates, population figures will be declining by
2050.
It will decline a lot further, of course, if Monsanto and their like are
allowed to continue this
rampage, unchecked,
across the globe with
their toxic products.
Another way that Monsanto products are affecting reproductive
health is through its
weed killer Roundup,
which contains so much
glyphosate that when it
THE
THERAPY
BOOK
was introduced into
Europe, the legislation had
to be changed to increase
200-fold its allowable levels in agriculture.
Once again, this was putting business before people. Glyphosate throws off
the delicate hormonal balance that governs the
whole reproductive cycle.
It plays havoc with aromatase, which produces
estrogen, and it’s also
highly toxic to the placenta in pregnant women.
This 2009 French study
found that glyphosate destroys the cells in the
outer layer of the human
placenta, which in turn
can kill the placenta.
What was shocking was
that only a miniscule
amount of glyphosate was
needed to kill these placental cells ~ just 1/500th
the amount needed to kill
the weeds. This is what’s
known as ‘residual levels’
… and residual levels remain in the crop long after
it has been harvested, and
then enter our bodies as
food.
On August 30, 2010, the
Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation purchased
500,000 shares of Monsanto stock. Bill Gates is a
well known proponent of
‘population control’ ~ a
euphemism for ‘far fewer
people on the planet’. I
rest my case.
Ishtar Babilu Dingir writes

E -ZINE
A geneticist writes:
Monsanto has apparently convinced the FDA
that their crops are to
be regulated under
United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA) guidelines which
do not entail clinical trials prior to approval and
distribution.
Regardless of the above,
there are food safety
standards to be met and
we can only hope that
more scientists will begin the process of testing GMO foods for allergens. Gene splicing isn't
necessarily an exact science. While attempting
to splice out 100 base
pairs it is common to get
some left over material,
and that’s the problem.
When material is introduced into the human
cell, it can be allergenic.
In other words, just being in the bloodstream
can be a problem since
it can promote a toxic
response from the immunological system.
If some of the researchers quoted are correct,
that messenger RNA is
getting into the cell
body, that mRNA will
promote an immunological response if the result
is even a slight change
in cell wall. In other
words, a foreign mRNA
can elicit an immunological response similar to that seen in an
auto-immune disease
where the body attacks
itself. This could be resulting in lower fecun-
dity.
