CINDY SINGS HEART OUT FOR 15,000 FANS GEllison Published at 01:00, Thursday, 16 August 2007 By Gillian Ellison WHITEHAVEN’S Cindy Hoten had the time of her life when she sang her heart out at Carlisle Live at the weekend. Cindy, of Kells, was the only Cumbrian in the final six of the Stobart Factor. Although she did not win, the Sellafield project manager had a wonderful time. The event, which featured Westlife as headline act, attracted 15,000 people to Bitts Park. “I was chuffed to be singing in front of such a big crowd, the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic,” she said. The 29-year-old received some great comments from X-Factor’s Louis Walsh and Shayne Ward, who were judging. “Louis said I gave the most confident performance,” she said. “I had not eaten or slept for a week, but something just kicked in and I was on form on the day and felt I did a good job.” She sang Beyonce’s Work It Out and Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits. Timothy Johnston, of Australia but now living in London was voted the winner. “Timothy was absolutely amazing, we are like best friends now,” she added. Star attraction of Carlisle Live was heart-throbs Westlife who did not disappoint the thousands who endured the rain to watch the show. The Irish band flew in on Eddie Stobart owner Andrew Tinkler’s private jet and flew immediately back to London after the gig. When You’re Looking Like That, Mandy, Flying Without Wings and Uptown Girl featured in their playlist. Fireworks illuminated the skies as Westlife left the stage. Other big acts were Mutya Buena, formerly of the Sugababes, now a successful solo artist – she sang Not Your Baby and plenty of tracks from her debut album Real Girl. X-Factor winner Shayne Ward delighted the audience and sang hits No Promises and That’s My Goal. Pin-up Chico provided a glitzy set including covers of Play That Funky Music, I Feel Good and Livin La Vida Loca. Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts was suffering a severe cold, reducing his powerful voice to barely a whisper and he was therefore unable to perform. He did, however, go on stage to meet the fans. Published by http://www.whitehavennews.co.uk
