As State President she activated a state scholarship fund, a training school for delinquent black
girls, and a hospital for black tuberculosis patients.
She also worked closely with Texas White Federation Women. Often acted as liason between the
two groups.
Her emphasis was on club organization: working on ways to smooth out the work flow.
Also worked on increasing club members and the number of clubs. The TACWC doubled in
size under her leadership.
As National President she was instrumental in transferring the Frederick Douglass home to
the National Association.
