NEWSLETTER
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
AND WHAT A YEAR!
First of all Morning Starr would like to thank all the donors who
gave to us so that we were able to continue to offer spay and
neuter for Pitbull and Pitbull mixes for FREE even long after the
Grant funds have run out! Also for the Grant funds from the
License Plates of AZ which we received $1,000 for all breeds and cats too! We still
have approximately $600 left for this coming year. We also raised funds through events
like Canned Sedona, our golf tournament and MMA’s Biker Dogs! Morning Starr Clinic
serviced 340 dogs and cats for very low cost to no cost in the year 2015.
We spayed/neutered 38 Pitts for FREE, including Rabies shot, with the grant funds
from AZ Community Foundation of Sedona. We also did 31 with funds from donors like
YOU! Including a Rabies shot. We will continue to spay/neuter Pitbulls for FREE including
Rabies shots with private donations. We are making a difference in the community and
also other organizations are following suite. The city of Cottonwood now has a free
spay/neuter program for dogs and cats! It does take a village and we are happy to see
these dogs and cats be spay & neutered! THAT’S OUR GOAL! To stop the senseless killing of the dogs and cats in our community and around the country!
In our Act of Kindness we have covered all the Veterinarian Bills for a dog named Abel
that was found after he was hit by a car. Morning Starr was contacted and we immediately had them take Able to Montezuma Vet in Camp Verde. Morning Starr paid for all
medical expenses that were needed to amputate his leg and get him back to health. The
owner was eventually contacted but was unable to pay anything. We agreed also to
neuter Abel in order to help him with his “roaming” problem. We paid a little over
$1,000 and received $760 in donations to offset the cost for
us! Thank you to all who gave! We also did a growth removal for
a little dog named Vato for FREE under our Act of Kindness.

JUSTICE FOR HOPE!
Finally, justice for Hope! The little puppy that was thrown from a
car going 50 miles per hour! Her assailant was convicted GUILTY
after almost a year of delays and tactics. She is now in a wonderful loving home. For a long time the assailant was stating that he
was not guilty but finally his Uncle who was riding in the car came
forward to admit that he saw him throw the puppy out the window.
Maryann who was traveling in a truck behind that car stopped to
see what was tossed into the road and sure enough it was a very
small puppy 4-6 weeks old. When I arrived on the scene within an
half hour of the event Hope was in distress and turning in circles. She was taken to
Montezuma Vet where she recovered then went to live
with Maryann for a while until her dogs started to
protest. Maryann and Morning Starr paid for all
Hope’s medical expenses. Then she came to live with
me and my pack of old dogs. Meanwhile Morning Starr
was looking for the perfect home for her. That home
was to be with a wonderful man named Chris and he
already had a great Pitbull named Bailey. Hope is now
one year old (see pic to right. Hope visiting the clinic.)
Maryanne, Chris and myself meet all together for the
first time since the tragic event. It was a horrible
event for Hope the puppy but Hope is so full of love
and has always received love from that day on.

WE LOVE YOU HOPE!

BABY IT’S COLD OUTSIDE!
WEATHER AROUND HERE IS DOWNRIGHT COLD!
It has been colder than usual around here! Please remember to
bring your pets inside and blanket ones that live outdoors.
Provide proper shelter for all pets. Water buckets are freezing
and must be cracked so animals can drink. I like when it is cold
because I can then safely take my dogs out with me for a car
ride without worrying about the heat but remember you still
need to put coats on our dogs who might be waiting outside for you and
the temps are really below normal. I like to keep extra blankets in the car
for the dogs to snuggle up in. You can add some olive oil or any healthy
fat to your dogs food to help them to stay warm!
LET’S GET THOSE DOGS HOME, FAST!
Morning Starr is keeping our Microchipping costs down to $15 in order to get those
dogs home faster! So many dogs are brought to the Humane Societies and it takes a
long time to get them reunited with their owners, which sometimes never happens. If
you are reunited then you usually have to pay fines that can be much more than if
you had them microchipped. Dogs are stressed in the whole process. We use Petlink
Microchips which is a $15 one time fee for the life of the dog. If your dog is microchipped make sure information is updated regularly. Call to make an appointment with
us to get your dog Microchipped! 928-821-2420!
