Funeral services for Mia Rose Tail “Wicahpi Luta Win” (Red Star Woman), age 16, will be on Thursday, April 13,
2017 at the Henry Weasel Tiospaye in Manderson, SD. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Gerald Ice
and George Jumping Eagle.
Burial will be at the Henry Weasel Tiospaye in Manderson, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night starting at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the
Porcupine School in Porcupine, SD. The second night will start at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the
Henry Weasel Tiospaye in Manderson, SD.
Mia was born on December 11, 2000 in Denver, CO to Robert Raymond Tail and Vanessa Cody Swallow. She
made her journey to the Spirit World on April 5, 2017 near her home in Manderson, SD.
Mia is survived mother Vanessa (Alfred) Swallow of Porcupine, SD; father Robert Tail of Manderson, SD; sisters
Cody Tail of Manderson, SD, Zintkala Ska Alexis Swallow of Porcupine, SD, and twin sister Mara Tail of
Manderson, SD; brothers Eeon Swallow and Alfred Swallow Jr. of Porcupine, SD and AJ Rowland of Manderson,
SD; special friend Allen Mesteth of Manderson, SD; hunka mother Rosie Lipp of Manderson, SD; maternal
grandparents David and Nyla (Helper) Swallow of Porcupine, SD, Donna Helper and Family of Red Shirt Table,
SD, Bridget Helper and Family of Denver, CO, Leo Swallow and Family of Fort Collins, CO, Timothy Swallow and

and Blutch Woman Dress; uncles Iziah Helper and Michael Helper; and aunts Asia Rose Two Crow and Deziree
Martinez.
