Pixel Art Competition April-May 2017 Orleans House Gallery invites all budding young artists in schools across Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow to enter our Pixel Art Competition for our new exhibition, Picture Play opening on 6 July 2017. Your Challenge! Orleans House Gallery looks after the Richmond Borough Art Collection. We will be reimagining these artworks in Picture Play! Using pixel art, create your own new artwork for the collection. Draw a person or place in your local area that is important to you. - What will your picture be of? A place, an object or a person? - Why have you chosen this? Why is it/are they important? - Remember to give your artwork a name. DEADLINE for submission – Wednesday 7th June 2017. Requirements • Artworks must be no bigger than A4 • All works must be submitted via your school or alternative education provision. The Winner The winning entry / school will be given a FREE workshop in June to work with artist, Kate Kennedy and create a short animation that will feature in the exhibition inspired by your artwork. Top entries will also have their designs exhibited in Picture Play! (6 July-20 August). Submitting To submit your work, please send the artwork with the completed entry form (below) including: • the title • brief description of the inspiration behind the work Please include the subject ‘Pixel Art Competition’. Artist’s Name, age and school: How to Create Pixel Art There are different ways you can do this project. Don’t worry if children don’t stick strictly to these rules. We welcome submissions from all age groups. Method A: Use a cotton bud or a rubber to create a picture from dots. Method B: 1) Draw a picture on the square paper around the edges of the squares. 2) Colour it in, making sure that each whole square is only one colour. Method C: 1) Draw a picture on the square paper. 2) Colour in the whole of each square the pencil line goes over. Method D: 1) Go to pixelartmaker.com 2) Draw your design onto the site and follow the instructions to save your design. 3) Email the design to Orleans House Gallery with your submission form or print and post the design.
