Click
. The favorite fonts you specified will now show up
directly on the font list.
Calculations
Simple calculations within numerical fields is easy in
GravoStyle™, simply enter the equation into any numerical field
and GravoStyle™ will do the rest. Say that you do not know the
decimal value to one and one-half inches, just enter 1 + 1/2.
GravoStyle™ will add the 1 and the 1/2 to create 1.5 inches. Or
you can enter 5/8 inches, GravoStyle™ will covert it to 0.625
without the need for a calculator.
You can use:
– to subtract
+ to add
/ to divide
* to multiply
This is especially useful when working with guidelines, which is
mentioned later in this document.
Right Click Zoom
This is a very useful feature of GravoStyle™. By default the right
mouse button is used for zooming in and out on the work area.
Simply right click to zoom in and Ctrl + right click to zoom out.
Be careful not to right click too fast because a double right click
will give you full zoom, this means that it will give just enough
zoom to fit everything within view.
Nudging (Arrow Move)
Nudging (Arrow Move) is the ability to use the arrow buttons on
your keyboard to precisely move objects that you have selected in
the work area. This can also be customized within the options
menu. To do this press F10 on your keyboard and click on the
Display tab. Here you can change the arrow move distance then
click
Precision Dialog
This is used to give an accurate size and /or placement of an
object being drawn in the work area. Let’s say you want to draw a
square, you choose the square from the geometric shapes menu
and hold down the left mouse button and press F2 on your
keyboard. This will open the following window.
From this window you can adjust the width, height, and precise X
and Y position. The nine circular buttons indicate which part of
the shape will be placed on the X and Y position you specify.
This can be done also with circles, arrows, stars, etc.
Scaling
After an object is placed in the work area you can modify its size
by holding down the left mouse button on one of the boxes
around a selected object and pressing F2 on your keyboard.
This opens the Scaling dialog; from here you can modify the
height, width or percentage of scale.
Guidelines
To create a guideline simply hold the left mouse button on either
the left or top ruler and drag in into the work area. This will create
a dotted line across the screen. Double click on the line to open
the guideline properties.
. For instance, if you change the arrow move to 0.25
. Then select and object in your work area
inches and click
and press one of the arrow buttons on you keyboard, it will move
in that direction 0.25 inches per press.

GravoStyle 6 Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts
Manual Kerning
Kerning is the act of adjusting the space between characters. This
can be precisely adjusted from the Rapido by clicking on the
color yellow and adjust the percentage of space.
A quicker way to manually kern is by highlighting the text and
pressing Ctrl - or Ctrl + on your keyboard.
From here you can give the line specific coordinates by changing
the value in the position field and clicking change, or you can
click add to add more guidelines. There are three icons at the top,
these allow you to add or change a guideline to horizontal,
vertical or angle, even delete them.
Quick Font Selection
Simply click on the drop-down arrow for the font list and select
True Type Fonts, Gravograph Fonts or Vision Numeric Fonts
and press the first letter of the font name on your keyboard to
jump to that alphabetic letter. For instance, if you need to use the
Times New Roman font, open the font list and select True Type
Fonts and press T on your keyboard, this will jump down to the
first font starting with T. Now you only have to scroll through T
instead of all of the fonts.
Quick Copy
A quick way to copy an object on the screen is to select the object
so that the nine red boxes appear around it. Hold the Shift button
on your keyboard and the left mouse button on the center red
box and drag it over to a different area. Release the left mouse
button then the Shift button. This allows you to place the copied
object anywhere on the work area. To create a quick copy that is
horizontally or vertically aligned with the first, press Shift +
Ctrl while dragging the object.
Re-engrave Portion of Job
In GravoStyle™, there is a way to engrave only a portion of the
job. This is useful if some of the engraving was not deep enough
or didn’t mark the material at all, etc. To do this, simply select the
item you want to re-engrave on the screen and send the job to the
engraver as normal. In GravoStyle™, if nothing on the work area
is selected, the software will send all of the data, but if you select
an item it will only send that part of the job.
Also, in the font list you can open the entire character list by
clicking on
just to the right of the font name.
From here you can insert special characters that may not have
keyboard representation.
