A manual transmission with 4 forward gears. Gear shifter with pattern for 4 positions on shift knob. This has a clutch pedal in addition to the brake and gas pedals. A drivetrain assembly called a transfer case that distributes power to both front and rear axles while driving. May have a button, switch or gear shifter on console with 2 or 4 wheel directional pattern or can be controlled automatically. Power A steering system that uses hydraulic pressure to increase the drivers turning ability. Actually decreases steering effort. A hydraulic braking system that uses engine vacuum to assist driver when braking. Windows that may be automatically controlled up or down by driver and passengers. Look for button devices to depress on armrest of door or in proximity of the center console. Door locks that may be controlled automatically by driver and passenger. Look for button devices on armrest of door or on center console. Side mirrors that are controlled from the driver compartment. Look for mirror selector with direction arrows on dashboard or on the driver's door. A defrost function for the side mirrors. An electronic device that controls the movement of the driver’s seat; forward, backward, upward, and downward. Look for selector on side of driver’s seat, driver's side door, or proximity of center console. Note: Lumbar support or power recline available as stand-alone would not be considered a Power Driver Seat. An electronic device that controls the movement of the passenger’s seat; forward, backward, upward, and downward. Look for selector on side of passenger's seat, passenger's side door, or proximity of center console. Note: Lumbar support or power recline available as stand alone would not be considered a Power Passenger Seat. The seat needs to move in all four directions. A package that may consist of memory seats and/or pedals, mirrors, steering wheel and radio. These functions allow the primary driver of the vehicle to preset their preferred settings on these options. At the push of a button, the seats and/or pedals, mirrors and steering wheel will electronically revert to the desired settings. Controls can typically be found on the driver side door. Note: The minimum requirement is a driver memory seat and one other memory component. In order to have a driver memory seat, Power Seat Option is also a minimum requirement. Glass that has a light tint and does let others view inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Note: This would include light grey and/or amber light tinted glass. Aftermarket tinted film on the passenger compartment windows of the vehicle. Note: If majority of the windows are OEM AS3 refer to Privacy Glass. Glass that has a dark tint and hinders the view of the passenger compartment of the vehicle. This option includes OEM glass code of AS-3. Note: If the majority glass has an aftermarket film installed, refer to Aftermarket Film Tint. A motorized rear sun shade that will raise a shield to protect the interior compartment and passengers from direct sunlight. Permanent or removable storage compartment located between the driver and passenger seat. An overhead storage compartment, usually located in between the driver and passenger seats. At minimum, a sunglasses holder and may also include storage for Kleenex, maps, controls, etc. Note: Any form of overhead storage. An interior design that provides a look of finished wood. Look for wood-like finish on dash, door, or other interior trim panels. Note: This can also include real wood interior. An exterior finish that provides the appearance wood. Convenience A system of devices that causes a reduction or control of the temperature and humidity within the passenger compartment. Look for A/C selector on the dashboard. Windshield wipers that may be adjusted to pause and operate at variable speeds. Look for selector on the wiper arm. A steering wheel that can be moved up and down. A device that when set, controls the speed of the vehicle. Look for a selector typically located within the vicinity of the steering wheel or column. Note: This does not include Intelligent Cruise Control. An electric heating device built into the rear window that is used to remove ice from the window. Look for lines running across rear window. A system that allows the user to lock or unlock the doors of the vehicle without physically inserting the key into the lock. This may be a plastic key fob, keyless entry pad on the door or a chip within the key. The vehicle must have an audible alarm. This is not a panic button. When only cruise control buttons are located on the steering wheel, this would not be considered Steering Wheel Touch Controls. A single wiper located on the rear windshield. A steering column that can be shortened or lengthened to provide the most comfortable driving position. Look for steering wheel that can be moved inwards or outwards. Note: Typically the button is located in close proximity to the tilt wheel lever or button. A control on the dashboard which allows the driver and/or passenger to keep the temperature inside the vehicle at a certain level. Some vehicles have separate controls for both the driver and passenger to set their own preferred temperature. Climate control could be located in the front or rear of the vehicle with separate controls. Climate control can also be one universal temperature that is set for the entire car cabin and adjusts to the temperature controls as set by the driver. Climate control is for heat and cold. An air conditioning system that allows flow of cooled air to rear of vehicle. Must have separate controls for the front and rear temperature control. Note: This option is only available on Pickups, SUVs and Vans. The On-board Navigation System utilizes voice messages and optical aids to guide you to pre-selected destinations. With the latest On-board Monitor and Compact Disc or DVD containing digital mapping technology and data, you select a destination from listed entries, or directly from mapped destinations on the screen. Note: This option should not be used for portable aftermarket devices. A remote control system that allows the user to start the vehicle without having to physically get in the vehicle and use the key. Popular in colder climates, where the user can start the vehicle without having to brave the elements. Back up camera in the rear of the vehicle that assists in parking. A camera provides a live feed of the environment behind the vehicle to an LCD monitor inside the vehicle. Note: The monitor can be located in the rearview mirror or in the dash of the vehicle. Parking Sensors are not required but may be present. Sensors in the vehicle that assist in parking by alerting the driver if the vehicle becomes too close to an object. The driver is alerted by a beeping sound. These sensors could be located in the front or rear of the vehicle. Note: If a Backup Camera is present, refer to Backup Camera. Integrated system which includes, but not limited to a DVD/VCR with one flip-down viewing screen. The screen can typically be found within an overhead console. Radio Audio equipment that receives AM signals. Audio equipment that receives FM signals. Audio equipment that receives AM/FM signals and amplifies sound to speakers. Look for radio in dash of vehicle. A feature on radio that allows user to sequentially scan for radio stations. Audio equipment that plays one compact disc. Audio equipment that plays cassette tapes. Look for tape player typically located in the dash. Connects a portable audio unit such as an iPod or MP3 player to the vehicle's sound system. This connection allows music on the portable audio unit to be played over the vehicle's sound system. Newer models may have USB audio interface that is used for direct connections and/or Compact Flash/SD Cards. An upgraded sound system, either factory or aftermarket. A factory premium radio often includes brand name badging (Examples include Bose, and Harmon Kardon). An after-market premium radio has to have upgraded head unit and speakers to be considered as part of Premium Radio. Note: Is Satellite Radio is present, refer to Satellite Radio. Digital radio signal that is broadcast by communication satellite, which effectively allows the user to pick up radio stations from around the country instead of just within their region. Air bags that inflate rapidly during a side impact collision protecting the shoulder area down to the seat. Look for airbag with hazard warning label. Note: These can also be found in the side pillar door or side of the seat. Air bags intended to reduce injuries in the case of a side impact or roll over. These typically rapidly deploy downward from the roof area or pillars, or on certain vehicles may deploy upward from the seat or door area (typically convertibles, some compacts). A system that prevents drive wheels from spinning on slippery surfaces during acceleration. Note: Also known as Limited Slip Differential. A communication system that uses GPS and cellular technology to link the driver and a communication center. Also known as Bluetooth, A permanently installed Hands Free or Voice Activated telephone device. This system may also control other digital devices such as IPods and Smart Phones. A vinyl covering for an automobile's roof area. A full or partial vinyl covering on the automobile's roof. A component on a UTV (usually Jeeps) where a Hard top roof can be placed on the vehicle to replace the soft top. A removable roof panel(s) which may or may not be separated by a metal bar in the middle of the roof. This will not be used on a convertible. Paint A clear coat paint covering used on modern vehicle bodies. It is the top coat. Clear coat Paint was made standard on most vehicles 1981 and newer. Paint that contains metallic flakes which provide enhanced depth of the color. A paint which contains tiny dots of metal in its makeup to give it extra quality. A paint style which consists of two shades of one color (i.e. Dark Blue and Light Blue) or two separate colors. Note: This does not include body cladding that is a different color. A three-layer paint system that usually includes a base, pearl and clear coat paint. Note: An example is White Diamond paint. Chip resistant coating to protect the vehicle's finish from chipping. Other Auxiliary lights on vehicle used in difficult driving conditions. Look for a second set of lights usually located directly below the main headlights. The control is usually found on or near the steering column or dash. A system that helps to prevent wheel spin on slippery surfaces during acceleration. Look for traction control button on dash, underneath transmission selector, or underneath radio of vehicle. Stability Control is a technology that assists the driver in maintaining control of the vehicle. The system compares the driver's intended direction to the vehicle's actual direction. If the driver goes right and the car does not follow then this technology brakes individual front or rear wheels and/or reduces excess engine power. An aerodynamic device attached to a vehicle. Look for wing shaped device on deck lid or tailgate of vehicle. Spoilers can be found on Trucks, UTVs and Vans. Turn signals that are integrated into the side mirrors of the vehicle. A flashing arrow or light appears on the mirror indicating the intended direction of the turn. This can be located within the glass or frame of the mirror. A frame or bumper mounted receiver hitch that may be OEM or Aftermarket. Note: Refer to Trailering Package when Integrated wiring is also present. High Intensity Discharge lights or Xenon lights that produce a much brighter light than a halogen light. A device that releases washer fluid and washes the headlamp. Note: Some vehicles will have wipers while others will not. Emission standards set by the state government in California to help reduce pollution. Vehicle owners are required to have their vehicles inspected by the DMV when renewing the vehicle's registration. Rear Sliding A manual sliding window found on trucks that is located in rear of the cab with locking Window lever. Power Rear A window found on trucks that is located in rear of the cab. This window can be Window electronically opened and closed by the driver of the vehicle. A protective covering that attaches to and lines the inside of a truck bed. This is a Bed liner snap in, removable bed liner or composite bed. Note: This does not include spray-on bed liner.
