FOREWORD
Mr W G Shirley originally took the tenancy of Checkley Wood Farm in 1936 and the holding is
now occupied by the third generation of the family.
Now, following his recent difficult
decision to move away and retire, Pete Shirley needs to dispose of all of farming equipment
owned by the family farming partnership trading as “W G Shirley & Son”.
Pete has enjoyed considerable success at competition ploughing at both local and regional
level, and this sale includes a fantastic show of vernacular tractors, ploughs (about 34 of
them!!) and associated equipment, as well as more contemporary machinery. The joint
auctioneers WJA Rural and Thame Farmers Auction Mart. Ltd., are therefore pleased to
accept instructions to conduct this significant dispersal, and will sell all of the Combine
Harvester; 2(no) Crawlers; 10(no) Tractors together with the complete range of arable
and pasture farm equipment off this 250 acres holding which in recent years has
concentrated on production from cereal and sheep enterprises. The number of lots for sale
directs that there will be very few – indeed, if any - included lots off local farms.
DIRECTIONS
Checkley Wood Farm lies some 3 miles to the north of Leighton Buzzard. The farm has
frontage to the south of the A5 and lies equidistant between the ‘Flying Fox’ roundabout next
(to the Sheep Lane turn to Woburn) and the Hockliffe traffic lights. Turn off the A5 down
Eastern Way towards Heath and Reach and the entrance to the field with the sale Car Park
will be found on your right-hand side after ¼ of a mile.
Please take extreme care when turning on or off the A5 trunk road.
‘To the Sale’ signs will be erected on the day of sale.
SALE ORDER
The order of sale will be announced immediately prior to the start of the auction at 10.30
am on Saturday, 12th September 2015. The right is reserved to sell lots in any order
and not necessarily in number sequence; and (if necessary) to sell simultaneously.
PROCEDURE
Purchasers will need a Bidding number. Please register at the sales office before the
sale for your Bidder number, when name address and telephone details will be taken
from you.
BUYERS PREMIUM
There will be a Buyer’s Premium charged at the rate of 5% in addition to the hammer
price. This Buyers Premium will be limited to a maximum of £350 per lot for items
realising a hammer price of £7000 or more.
PAYMENT
Cheques supported by Guarantee Card or Bank reference; or Cash up to the limit of Ten
Thousand pounds sterling (£10000.00)
