Robot Project

Robot Project
You and your partners will create a robot made from various rectangular prisms (toilet paper or paper towel roll,
Styrofoam balls, cones, etc). Your robot MUST have the following: two arms, two legs, a body, a sphere head
and a cone shaped hat. First, find the surface area of each body part (showing all your work). Then, put your
robot together with duct tape. Next add all of the area answers together. This number will be the amount of
aluminum foil you will need to cover your tin man. You must use all of your foil without running out or having
any left over.
Ideas/suggestions for robot parts
Head: Styrofoam balls, whiffle ball or any sphere
Hat: Party hats or snow cone “cup” or any cone shape
Body: cereal box, single serving or large box (or any rectangular prism)
Arms/Legs: spaghetti box (or any rectangular prism) toilet paper rolls and paper towels (or
any cylinders)
